:::::::::::::::::::: ABOUT THE ARTISTS ::::::::::::::::::::
BROTHER CULTURE – di original Rasta MC (Scotch Bonnett / Universal Egg / Moonshine Recordings / Dubhead // UK)
From Dub to Dubstep to Jungle…
Brother Culture is an MC based in Brixton, London. He started his
career around 1982 for Jah Revelation Muzik sound system. As part of the
Twelve Tribes of Israel Rasta brotherhood, Brother Culture toured in
the USA, Jamaica, Caribbean and Canada throughout the 80’s. In the early
90′s, he started to MC at London’s Dub Club, in which he made new
associations with active UK dub/roots producers such as Adrian Sherwood
and Manasseh.
In the mid-90s, the UK dub/roots scene evolved in new sub-genres of
music such as drums & bass. Brother Culture proved to his fans that
he was able to adapt his unique style to the new emerging scenes and
began to collaborate with labels such as Liquid Sound Design.
Since 2000, he continues to travel the world as an established MC
artist spreading out the positive message of Jah music. He also
continues to record new productions for many producers and bands such as
The Prodigy (« Thunder » from the album « Invaders Must Die »), Mungos
Hifi, Zion Train, Adam Prescott, Dub Terror, Liquid Stranger, Jellybass,
Manasseh, On U Sound, Hammerbass, Roots Garden Label, Dubmatix or
Kinyama Sounds.
His music can be found (among many) on: Scotch Bonnett, Universal
Egg, Dubhead, M Records, Roots Garden, Systen Error, Flex Label,
Dragonfly, One-Drop Music, Irie Ites, Tuffa Dubs and LSD records.
ADAM PRESCOTT (Nice Up! / Mindstep / Reggae Roast / Moonshine Recordings / Vibration Lab // UK)
Nottingham’s own Adam Prescott is an up and coming producer combining
a crucial selection of rough and tough Roots music with a modern
injection of Dubstep. With support and guidance from Mark Iration (from
the Leeds based Iration Steppas) Adam has been making moves in the world
of Dub & Dubstep for a while now working on original tunes with
well known and established artists such as Charlie P, Brother Culture,
Daddy Freddy, Dynamite MC & Jah Screechy. In addition he has remixed
for the likes of Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Riddim Tuffa, Solo Banton, Radikal
Guru, Iration Steppas, Linval Thompson / Vibration Lab, Dub Pistols,
Earl 16 / Reggae Roast & Tenor Fly. In 2012 Adam is set to become a
household name in the Uk Dub & Dubstep scene.
2Times (RootsDigital // NL)
I started making beats for Headliners with only a Roland MC-303 and a
Yamaha SU-10 pocket sampler in the mid 90′s. Not only hiphop but I was
also experimenting with Breakbeats/Jungle/DnB
Always wanted having my own studio. I started buying more synths, effect units and a mixer over the years.
Nowadays a lot is done with software but still use synths for certain basslines and stuff.
I came up with the idea to do live sets instead of DJ-ing.
In those days parties were dominated by DJ’s so doing a live set made it different.
Llive DnB/Jungle was still kinda new in 2000 but was growing fast.
I formed 2Times and started doing Live shows together with Dj Period (R.I.P) and Mc P-Irie.
Later on P-irie stopped mc-ing and I got in contact MC Miko and Kosmoz.
In the beginning of 2003 Zoocrew started to organise DnB parties in the
Boerderij in Zoetermeer and 2Times became a residential act.
In 2004 we performed at several party’s in Zoetermeer, The Hague, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Venlo.
Next to that I did some remixes for FunX Radio and work with Jahva Sound, a dutch Reggae Sound System.
In 2006 things started to get a little boring and there was no more inspiration.
Since the Beginning of 2008 I started producing again but concentrated only on Dubs and Jungle.
