SETH TROXLER, an emerging talent from the Berlin's scene with his releases with esperanza, spectral sound and Leftroom.
JAY HAZE
Jay Haze is the name behind number of projects that fight a guerilla war against mediocrity on a daily basis. Born in Pennsylvania, Haze has been living in Berlin since the early 00s, in which time he has released music on Playhouse, Kitty-Yo, Cocoon, Get Physical, and plenty more. But of course Haze is responsible for running several labels
himself: TuningSpork, Contexterrior, Junion, FutureDub, and Textone.
Haze's production career began in the year 1999 on the house-oriented TuningSpork, and in the following year he launched FutureDub as a home for downtempo electronic dub.
In 2002 Haze started the techno-oriented Contexterrior, and in 2003 he had the novel idea of founding Textone, an online electronic music magazine and internet label project, yielded thousands of downloads long before any other labels caught on to the idea. By 2004 Haze recorded a collaborative EP with his buddy Ricardo Villalobos, and continued his labels with releases from names who are now household in the world of house and techno (e.g. Robag Whruhme, Samim & Michal).
The following year saw Haze's stock rising even more rapidly with his first full-length album on Kitty-Yo, Love for a Strange World. Haze launched yet another label in 2006, Junion, and enjoyed some crossover success when he released the massively acclaimed Children of Love album as Fuckpony on Get Physical Music. Known for his skills not just as a producer, Jay Haze has DJed in all of the German clubs, throughout Europe, and Japan, has a residency at London's Fabric and Italy's Tenax . His tracks are a constant feature in the DJ sets and mix CDs of Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Ivan Smagghe, Miss Kittin, and countless others.
For 2007 Haze has exciting plans to release on the UK's Soul Jazz Records under his dub project Sub Version, and is also planning another solo album that will reveal
his love for hip-hop and soul. Meanwhile, his empire of labels continues to suck in new fans like a vacuum cleaner. The Jay Haze story continues with pace, but it is a timeless and simple one, the tale of a man who makes, releases, and plays the world's most psychedelic dance music.
SETH TROXLER
Through a leaking bodily cavity resembling the pork found in Chinese restaurants, Satan shat out a crystal beaming with glowing red embers. This crystal matured into the fetus of Seth Troxler. Seth was placed on earth as a weeping fetus, the sound of inevitability. As he grew, his ancestral roots took on a magnetic channeling power, more than his feeble mind could ever consciously fathom. As a result, he became capable of creating some of the world's finest and most intuitive dance cuts, including releases on FXHE, Esperanza and his hits "Satisfy" and "Love Berzereker" on Beretta Grey, and upcoming releases on Dumb Unit and Spectral in early 2007.
Through a preternatural understanding of rave, Seth conjours up mixes like Botticelli conjoured his Venus.
He has played many outstanding international gigs, notably Panorama Bar, Watergate, Robert Johnson, Batofar and Wolf + Lamb. He is also a key conceptual force behind America's "Tesh Club" parties with partners in crime Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. His musical influences include the chirping of crickets, the whirring of space ships, and the sweet sounds of whistling voodoo magic. However, Seth draws the majority of his inspiration from Robert Downey Jr., and the idea of releasing the shackles that bind Downey so he can finally do heroin in peace. On cold Detroit evenings one can often witness Seth Troxler in his front yard, situated beside an overly-cumbersome boombox in a nylon tracksuit, jacking his body to old Dancemania cuts and cooking bbq. To view first hand such a rare delight is truly magic.
