The return of The DMZ has been keenly observed in planetary alignments, and the date has been set for Sat, 22 Sep 2012 at Velvet Underground, Zouk for a much anticipated second coming.
A night helmed by national labels Darker Than Wax and Midnight Shift, The DMZ 002 sees label artist number two – Iron Curtis – landing from temperate Berlin to our tropical shores. Following on the first landmark made by inaugural guest Basic Soul Unit, Iron Curtis is expected to intertwine the dub, techno and house axis of sounds in a disturbingly enchanting manner. His sound moves in the equilibrium of reduced, but never minimal. Flashes of kitsch brighten the dark universe of Iron Curtis, but fail to interfere with the melancholy subtext. It’s profound music for the dance floor.
Accompanying Iron Curtis in mission will be Midnight Shift label artist and soldier Norman Chung, who will be giving the floor a fiery taster before flying off to his showcase at Decibel Festival, Seattle the following week. Darker Than Wax’s Funk Bast*rd and Kaye will tag team as Cosa Nostra to bridge the great leap forward into the organic unknown and beyond with their now signature sound accelerated up a darker, denser notch. Ming, Zouk resident and Bassic leader will begin the night’s march into the right direction.
