Djuma Soundsystem…used to be two and now it's one. Norwegian DJ & producer Mikkas is flying the Djuma Soundsystem flag solo these days. The spirit of production and DJ style remains the same. That trade mark of warm beats and melodies is alive and well both in the studio and on the road. The sound is between tech house, house, disco, and techno, with a lot of personality and humanity involved. This is music, and not just grooves! It's catchy, but still underground and it can entertain a festival going mad, as well as an intimate club.
■ MATT MASTERS ■ UK/Free Range
Finding a love for house music at an early age, Matt Masters started working for Freerange Records in early 2004. Having DJed for several years before that, he decided to spend his first season in Ibiza that summer and gained residencies with two large island promoters that year as well as securing a residency on the sunset strip and appearing at many venues including the 10,000 people capacity club Privilege. When he returned from the island, Matt was invited to join the Freerange team permanently that year and the label and its artists have played a fundamental part in his musical influences and ambitions.
In addition to working with Jimpster on the Freerange radio show and a demanding tour schedule - Matt is busy in the studio working on remixes, collaborating with MrCenzo a new project with Pezzner called Arithmetics. Matt has been described as “fast becoming a force to be reckoned with” and Jimpster has described some of his productions as “Excellent tracks full of originality and deep, dancefloor friendly loveliness”. Another busy year for Matt it seems…
