Celebrating the release of Colette's new musical compilation Colette Call, S.T.D. invites the main selector Clement Aswefall to transmit us on a musical journey of his inspirations and musings from behind the neon diving girl in Arkham.
Colette Call is a new musical compilation that puts the spotlight on the next generation of exciting musicians. Delivering a message of brotherhood and tranquility in a world of chaos. Some of the artists that find their name on the back sleeve include Discodeine, Bot'Ox, Chassol, Hypnolove, Sean Nicholas and DJ Koze.
Clement Aswefall started his DJing career in 1991 after having played drums in Cold Wave band "Theatre Decembre". His early DJ years found him in underground clubs to the blaring sound of Detroit Techno and Chicago House looking up to the likes of Andy Weatherall, Juan Atkins and Darren Emerson. His first track was released in 1994 on Andy Weatherall's label Sabrette. From 1994 to 2002 Clement set up his record shop Dagroove and started his label Tropism whilst also having his own radio show called "Grand Sud" on France's Radio Nova. He later took on a residency at Pulp in Paris which would form the infamous "Kill The DJ" parties. During his rowdy "Kill The DJ" days, Clement started writing music under Aswefall with collaborator Leo Hellden which would be released on Tiger Sushi and later remixed by Optimo.
He now works as a bit of a taste maker for the world famous Colette store, selling his records, taking care of all the music, cinema and books for their website and releasing a little podcast (in the top 30 most listened in France). His education and experiences in music have led him into unearthing new talent with Colette Call and influencing thousands of people during an action packed life in the club scene.
Clement Aswefall will be in Shanghai for the first time alongside the STDJs to throw down a selection of fine tunes in Shanghai's beloved underground vault Arkham.
