Night Plane is a deep house / electronic pop group based in Brooklyn. William Rauscher started Night Plane in 2009 as a dance music project after years playing fuzzed-out keys in rock bands, and for three years he flew the project solo, performing live in Europe, Russia, North and South America and releasing tracks on Soul Clap Records, No.19, Culprit, Wolf + Lamb, Thisisnotanexit and Rough Trade, among others. In 2012 William’s high school buddy and longtime collaborator Casey Gibbs joined the project as vocalist and lead guitarist. The Night Plane live duo performance is a potent brew of sexy slow-mo disco, deep house, indie vibes and Madchester madness.
In 2010 William’s dream-house bootleg Str8 2 Ur Heart caught on fire, first championed by Soul Clap and then receiving heavy support from the likes of DJ Three, Till Von Sein and Sasha. In 2011 the haunting tune Parallel Lines made it onto the Clap’s mix for Art Department’s No.19 label, and the well-loved remix of LA girl rockers Warpaint lit up the deep house dancefloors with its potent brew of indie guitars and trippy vocals. In 2012 Soul Clap launched their record label with Night Plane’s Heartbeat EP, featuring Casey’s bold singing, crashing indie-rock guitars, and a blissed-out house cover of Pavement’s “Gold Soundz” featuring Heather D’Angelo and CCC DJ Harry Bennett.
William founded CCC together with DJ Harry Bennett and art director JM in 2010 as a multi-format media project. The CCC label discography includes Str8 2 Ur Heart as well as the barnstorming Acid Snow and a number of deep-house tinged indie rock remixes. CCC’s first book, On Acid: A Field Guide to Altered States, collects research from the group’s encyclopedic Acid Age blog. On Acid explores drug culture and psychedelic art and was recently acquired by the MoMA library.
