  • Our 4th birthday will be championed by a selection of our favourite guests from over the years, pioneers that have shaped the party and inspired us to keep the dream alive. In gloriously self-indulgent fashion, all of these acts will be brought from beyond our European borders to take up their place in the hearts of ReviveHERs. We can’t wait to bring them to the magical lift that opens onto the dance floor of our beloved little loft - the one and only - Hackney Wick’s Mother Studios! Cancel your Sunday plans and prepare yourself for an epic tribute to ReviveHER rules OK… Free Access To The Pre Party ….. http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?509368 Anyone who buys advance tickets for the birthday will be rewarded with places on the limited guest list for our special warm up at the Kings Head Members Club on 23rd August. This will be an intimate affair strewn across 4 floors of antique fittings and taxidermy. The sleazy padded basement, open to non-members for one night only, will lay host to Gonno (Beats In Space/International Feel/Japan) off the back of his European tour and Boiler Room appearance the day before, local guru Gatto Fritto (International Feel, Dissident) and a live PA from ColouringIN (ReviveHER Records). ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space / NYC) “…who’s bringing the jelly and the ice cream?” I hear you clamoring to ask. Can you think of anyone better to celebrate such a momentous occasion other than NY maestro, Tim Sweeney? He encapsulates everything we aspire to at ReviveHER. More than just a DJ, Tim is an electronic missionary who is unparalleled in bringing music to the masses. He describes his encounters with DJ innovators such as hip-hop legend Steinski as being fundamental to his musical education, an education that’s led him to become one of the modern heroes of dance music today. We take great pleasure in bringing him to London for the third time! Going live on air every Tuesday since 1999, Tim’s radio show Beats in Space has written itself into the history of electronic music and continues to prevail with its uncompromising and irrepressible music policy. The roll call of BIS guests reads like a who’s who of dance music history. Luminaries from across the spectrum have appeared, often years before gaining public recognition, including everyone from Carl Craig to Four Tet and Todd Terje. Alongside the tens of thousands tuning into the FM frequency, thousands more stream it live online and a staggering 175,000 archive podcasts are downloaded every month. BIS remains the go-to-place for self-respecting music lovers. Tim’s record collection is the magnificent sum of knowledge gleaned from every guest he has attracted to the show over the years. It’s on these legendary foundations that he launched BIS records in 2011. The label has so far showcased talent from a wonderfully eclectic palate: Paradis, Lauer, Jee Day, 2 singles and one album from Secret Circuit and most recently Tornado Wallace and Gonno… and the kaleidoscope continues to turn. His connections with DFA also remain indelibly etched in the minds of all those involved with the iconic label. So much so that he headlined without doubt one of the biggest parties of the year- the DFA 12th anniversary in New York in June. ReviveHER are indebted. His work continues to expose many of our artists (Lovefingers, Chida, COS/MES, The Backwoods, Jonny Nash, Thomas Bullock, DJ Nature, Prosumer, Eddie C, Tiago). We hope the affiliation continues for many years to come. Bravo Mr. Sweeney…see you down the front. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lovefingers (ESP Institute / LA) One of the earliest and most important darlings to grace our decks was LA’s Lovefingers. Every project Andrew Hogge turns to instinctively oozes sensuality and sophistication. Whether he’s curating the classic Blackdisco re-edit series, remixing ‘spaghetti western disco’ suites with wing man Lee Douglas via Findlay Brown, designing ultra-hip couture for ESP no.1 or O-M, or signing artists to the infamous ESP-Institute… the man’s panache won’t let up. As a DJ he absorbs esoteric sound worlds, bizarre b-sides and leftfield long-players, reassembling them in ways you wouldn’t believe possible. His marveled mix of 999 songs at www.lovefingers.org redefined the word ‘eclectic’, gaining him the respect of crate-diggers worldwide. The family of artists he’s gathered around him, otherwise known as the ESP-Institute, has quickly gained cult status under his guidance. The label has managed a whopping output of over 30 releases in 3 short years, with music coming from the likes of Soft Rocks, Cos Mes, Tiago, Chida, Tornado Wallace, The Backwoods and LA band The Pharaohs. We currently await the debut album from The Stallions, Andrew’s project in waiting with Lee Douglas (Rong Music/DFA and former ReviveHER). The Stallions formed for a one-off remix of Findlay Brown but knew they were on to something when they started receiving requests from high-flyers Phenomenal Handclap Band, Phil Manzanera, The Canyons and Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. We’ve requested Loverfingers’ sweeping styles kick off the loft from 8pm. Don’t miss him take the reigns. This not a warm up. It’s the start of a wild ride. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Chida & COS/MES (Japan) We welcome the return of our Japanese friends Chida and Cos/Mes. They will play before Tim’s set and afterwards in an ESP vs Ene B2B crescendo of music until dawn and beyond… Chida is one of the driving forces behind Tokyo’s ever more present underground house scene. There from the beginning, he’s played with nearly every big name that’s visited Japan. His international reputation has risen rapidly off the back of his label Ene Records, which puts out beautifully crafted vinyl bringing together Japanese underground artists (Sly Mongoose, Cos Mes, The Backwoods) with likeminded westerners (Tiago, Lord of the Isles, Beppe Loda) and established remixers (Prins Thomas, Ray Mang, Soft Rocks). Ene’s success has snowballed. It’s now regarded as one of the hottest labels on the planet. The collaborations with Lovefingers’ ESP Institute on remixes for the Backwoods’ hit “Cloud Nine” and with Cos/Mes’ label Funiki on the remastered album “Sadistic Skatepark” received heavy rotation from Andrew Weatherall, Francois K, Tim Sweeney et al. On top of this Chida found time to release his own 12” ‘Danca’, with Weatherall featuring the gem on his recent “Masterpiece CD” for Ministry Of Sound. With 12s by former ReviveHERs Felix Dickinson and ‘Lord of the Isles’ ready to drop on Ene Records, not to mention a full album by the latter, Chida’s schedule isn’t letting up any time soon. He is about to embark on a 5 week tour with Cos/Mes, taking in Unknown Festival in Croatia, Berlin, Portugal, UK, Russia and Scandinavia. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 5ive (COS/MES) COS/MES just don’t stop. In 5 years Cos/Mes have put out 4 albums, 11 12” and 17 remixes on labels such as ESP Institute, Claremont 56, FUNIKI ENE and LN-CC. Their breakthrough came with ESP Institute’s “Gomez Land - Chaosexotica”, which worked it’s way into both Juno and Beats in Space’s top 10 albums of the year (alongside Mount Kimbie and Actress) calling for Tim to ask them twice onto his show. No mean feat for underground artists from Tokyo. The international plaudits for COS/MES’ are well deserved. Their unique approach to music conjures up an aural feast that seamlessly steals away through the span of electronica. They are considered amongst the elite of vinyl collectors worldwide and never fail to astound and move people when they DJ. Much like Lovefingers, COS/MES remain connected to the alternative art forms born out of their Tokyo collective Tasha Hisha (iseneehihinee) and take to every project with the same loving brush that paints their club music. They recently produced soundtracks for fashion brands White Mountaineering and Pitti Uomo. Since the rerelease of ‘Sadisitic Skatepark’ they have put out 2 more remix EPs, on Funiki Ene with Chida and 2 singles for King Kung Foo Records – which currently fetch ludicrous sums online. Their new album is an 11 track vinyl-only masterpiece released on their own imprint SNAKER records. It has quickly started charming its way into the bags of their many sympathizers – we recommend you get one today before the limited pressing disappears. Whatever you say, Cos/Mes are here to stay. There’s plenty of admiration and respect between our artists. Their music is sewn from a common thread, there’s a collective cause that inspires active support and collaboration. Cos/Mes and Chida possess a particularly special bond. ReviveHER are ecstatic about bringing them back together exclusively, as no one else has, to the UK, for a love in with their stateside collaborators Sweeney and Lovefingers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Roland Tings – Live + Otologic (Melbourne) In between this maze of talent we have Roland Tings and Otologic bringing the sun-drenched sounds currently making waves out of Melbourne. Ting’s Chicago-happy beach-beats first surfaced on 100% Silk, and with a 12” on Modular (with Max D and Jeremy Greenspan remixes) + an LP on Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal label double dropping around now, his live shows have been in high demand. So far he’s racked up performances in Japan, Loftus Hall Berlin and Club Moog Barcelona as well as appearing on Boiler Room. We concur with the Otologic boys’ party ethic. Famed for their 8 hour sets at their C Grade parties in the Mercat basement with Tornado Wallace and being called upon to open for Harvey and Weatherall or close the Meredith Music Festival, Otologic are cult figures of Melbourne’s underground. Their other party ‘Animals Dancing’ is a collection of likeminded individuals looking to lose themselves to eclectic dance-floor jams. Together with Andee Frost, the party focuses on inviting an international guest of supreme talent that rivals ReviveHER, to share the decks with. They are not interested in creating a scene, rather the kind of house party you never want to leave. With music released this year on Soft Rocks’ Kinfolk label, recently being featured on Bill Brewsters ‘Late Night Tales’ mix, we expect much to come from these boys. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Well, what can you say? How many magical moments can we possibly squeeze into one night? With so many heads at the helm we’ve no doubt it will be a musical odyssey like no other, as we look to rediscover that feeling that nothing else matters…Happy birthday ReviveHERs! See you in the loft.
