  • Craig Charles’ Funk and Soul Club 19th October Brixton Jamm 261 Brixton Road London SW9 6LH Jamm has become the spiritual home of Funk and Soul since Craig Charles of 6 music became the bi-monthly resident there. Showcasing the best of the Funk; right through from old time classics, an array of unknown treasures, to the cream of the contemporary smashers that will have the perfect musical combination to - in the marvelous words of the big man himself “TEAR THE ROOF OFF!!!” The line ups of Funk and Soul Club’s gone by have been the talk of the London town and the party on the 19th October will be no different. Renegade Brass Band: the 12 piece, Combining eight horns with two percussionists, scratch DJ and MC, Renegade Brass Band mix funk, hip-hop and jazz with a raw brass sound and high-energy live show. RBB have already established a big live reputation as a headline act, and have played packed-out shows at venues around the UK, and alongside artists including Xavier Rudd, The Apples, DJ Vadim, The Correspondents, Rodney P & Skitz, Ms. Dynamite, Mistajam and The Nextmen. A hit with crowds across Europe, the band have played at festivals including Secret Garden Party, a headline slot at Sea Sessions Ireland, Tramlines and Kendal Calling. They have twice appeared at Soundwave Croatia, opening the stage for artists such as DJ Shadow and DJ Yoda, and in 2011, played one of the final slots at the Manchester International Jazz Festival. They will be a hit Tony Thorpe (Moody Boyz) When one talks about ‘living legends’ they don’t have to look further than Tony Thorpe. Fundamentally - one of the original electronic music producers and key members of the famed Moody Boyz. Tony’s musical exploits are too numerous to list here however from the hedonistic days of Croydon’s Swamp Club playing anything from Animal Nightlife with King Kurt, mixed in with James Brown and even Kraftwerk as well as his very own sound system – Midnight Groove that he ran with Mike Maguire from Groove Records, to collaborations with KLF or Mad Professor, you can bet ya life he will deliver a fun filled musical journey for anyone lucky enough to be on the dance floor when he is playing. Scrimshire: The funk man from Wah Wah 45s, when he is not producing music, running one of the coolest and respected labels in London, he just loves to get behind the decks and play the funk. A more than worthy addition to the Funk and Soul Club family DJ Marky: WIll also be spinning the soul & inter-weaving d’funk getting you on the good foot.
