’90年代後半のUKハード・ミニマル・シーンを牽引した
アーティスト／DJ であるSteve Bicknell。今なお継続しているパーティ、Lostからは多くののアーティストが育ってきた。さらに近年は、スノッブなシーンが蔓延しつつあるロンドンで、Soul Jazzクルー、Andy Weatheallらと共にテクノという枠にとらわれないパーティ、spacebaseを行い、アンダーグラウンドシーンを支える重要人物である。２年ぶり岐阜への来訪となる彼のプレイを是非フロアで堪能下さい。

８０年台後半、スティーブ・ビックネルはザ・エナジー・ウェイブの専属DJであったと共に、多くのUKのクラブカルチャーに関わり続けた。そして今や伝説的となっている、UKのエレクトロニック・ミュージシャン先代に多大な影響を与えたLOSTの創設者の一人である。ヨーロッパ各国を始め、日本、オーストラリア、アメリカでプレイをこなし、The Rex, Liquid Room, Sonar Festival, Tribal Gathering, Tresor, Bugged Out, Berghain, Eleven, Fabricなど数々のビッグフェス、名門クラブに
出演。プロデュースとしての彼は実名に加え、幾つもの名義(The Evader, Kim Bilir, S.B. Project)でも活動してきた。そしてCosmic records創設以前にはPerfectやNovaMuteからのリリース、自身の楽曲のみならずJay Denham, Robert Hood, Juan Atkins, DJ Rush, Tyree Cooper and Mark Broomをもプロデュース。また、Joey Beltram, Luke Slater, Plastikman, Dj Rush, Hauschkaらにもトラックのリミックスを提供。先験的で妥協のないスティーブのルーツであり、今もなお脈々と続くその精神は、量より質、模倣より革新、といったこだわりとして貫かれ、その姿勢と純度の高さが彼の音楽への献身性となっている。
In the late ’80s, London-based Steve Bicknell was resident DJ at the Energy raves, participating in many of the defining events in UK club culture’s history. Co-founder of the now legendary LOST events which influenced a whole generation of British electronic musicians, he has DJ-ed at events throughout Europe, Japan, Australia and America, including The Rex, Liquid Room, Sonar Festival, Tribal Gathering, Tresor, Bugged Out, Berghain, Eleven and Fabric
As a producer, Bicknell has recorded under his own name and several aliases (The Evader, Kim Bilir, S.B. Project), initially releasing on Perfecto and NovaMute before Co-founding Cosmic records, to release both his own material and that of Jay Denham, Robert Hood, Juan Atkins, DJ Rush, Tyree Cooper and Mark Broom and more. He has remixed tracks for Joey Beltram, Luke Slater, Plastikman, Dj Rush, Hauschka, The Advent and The Drum Club to name a few.
