Sublimate: Sycorax (Live) - I am, we are vs. Dahlia - Ephraim - Faso - Sagotsky

  • ***Party moved to secret location and we will now be going much later! RSVP with full names [email protected] for location details*** **In honor of Miguel's birthday we would like to announce that Dahlia is joining us for a special b2b session with I am, we are. There will also be an open bar from 11pm to midnight so come down early and have a drink for our bday boy!** Sublimate is thrilled to present a new party in Brooklyn, dedicated to bringing you quality underground house and techno. Our primary focus is on the artistic value of the music itself and to provide a safe space to foster a community of respectful partiers. We will strive to showcase local talent alongside world class acts, because we believe that Brooklyn already contains a plethora of talented artists. Lastly, we don’t think a night out dancing should cost you an arm and a leg. This final point is paramount, since the underground dance scene should be accessible to all – especially newcomers. For our first event we are ecstatic to have Sycorax play a live hardware set of raw acid house and techno. Sycorax is comprised of Brooklyn locals - Ben Manzone and Daniel Helmer. They have already produced several quality releases for imprints Pneumatic Records and NJ Records. The last time we saw these guys throw down their live set they absolutely killed it! Sublimate is delighted to present I am, we are. Hailing from Puerto Rico and recently settling down in Brooklyn, I am is part of the Sublimate crew. Expect to hear quality minimal house cuts mixed with acid house, dub techno, or pretty much anything heady with a solid groove and kick. One of the emerging bright lights of New York's club scene, Dahlia Lachs aka Modesty has begun to earn a reputation far beyond that which her moniker would allow. Skillfully blending deep grooves with strong rhythms and a multitude of breaks, stutters, and effects, Modesty delivers sets that reflect kindly on her early Latin and disco influences but consistently finds ways to interpret, re-invent or advance these sounds in new directions with often surprising and unexpected results. During his adolescence, Ephraim became entranced in classical music as he played the double bass for over 10 years. These beginnings are evident in the vinyl mixes that tipfy a typical Ephraim set, which can typically span genres from dub, techno, house, UK bass, to just about anything that features the sub 60hz frequencies. Originally from Baltimore and now based out of New York City, you can catch Ephraim supporting the up and coming Sublimate party run by his good friend Sagotsky. Faso - resident DJ at Discovery, NYC. Faso, also known as Fason, is an ape-like cryptid that purportedly inhabits forests, mainly in the Atlantic Northwest region of North America. Faso is usually described as a large, bipedal humanoid. The term "faso" is an anglicized derivative of the word "fésoh" which means "stranger" in a Salish Native American language. Rounding out the bill we have Sublimate resident - Sagotsky. Sagotsky, a born and raised New Yorker fell in love with the ineffable magic that transposes itself across late night dance floors in booming Brooklyn warehouses. He now regularly DJs out of a love for music, vinyl, and making people smile. His all vinyl sets fall under the auspice of the deepest of deep house, but he doesn't contain his sets to one particular genre.
