MARK BROOM
After a long stint as one of Britain's formost intelligent techno DJs, Mark Broom began working on production as well, recording an LP with Black Dog's Ed Handley and Andy Turner as Repeat.
He founded several crucial labels - Pure Plastic, Rewired, Unexplored Beats and 3 Zone, plus Ifach with Peter "Baby" Ford - and began recording as a solo concern with a lock on streamlined ambient-techno as well as the more rhythmically dextrous sound of Handley/Turner's later offshoot, Plaid.
Broom had begun hanging out with the trio Black Dog as early as 1990, DJing at their gigs and, by 1995, recording with Ed Handley and Andy Turner as Repeat. The first Repeat release, 1995's Repeats LP, made Broom's name as a producer as well as a DJ and he began recording on his own with singles for GPR, Ferox, New Electronica and Cosmic. His debut album Angie Is a Shoplifter appeared in 1996, alongside a wealth of material recorded under a dizzying variety of aliases - Kape I'll Miester, Sympletic, Ted Howler Rhythm Combo, Kruton and (again with Handley and Turner) Eco Tourist. Broom has also provided remixes for Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia, Ken Ishii and Nicolette. ~ John George W.
He has also had the pleasure of reworking material from artists such as Dubfire, Edit Select, F.U.S.E, Dj 3000, Alan Fitzpatrick. Mark has had a string of high class releases over the last 12 months, highlights being the Acclaimed SQ18 EP on Cocoon, M28 EP on Gynoid Audio, Vault 5 for Ostugut and a new project with James Ruskin as ” The Fear Ratio.
HANS BOUFFMHYRE
“Hans Bouffmyhre is a young man from Paisley with a worrying obsession for techno music. Hans started off his career in 2006 when he began to promote his own party in Glasgow called ‘Sleaze’ where he booked and played alongside some of the worlds best techno acts including the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Funk D’ Void, Chloe, Radio Slave, Johannes Heil, Extrawelt, Phil Keiran, Len Faki & Par Grindvik!”
At the start of 2007, Hans started learning about music production and making his own tracks. He now boasts releases on many recognised labels including Perc Trax, Viva Music, Soma, Synewave, Harthouse, 8 Sided Dice, Analytictrail aswell as recently starting his own label Sleaze Records.
So far Hans’ tracks have gained huge support & plays from some of the biggest names in Techno, including Richie Hawtin, Dubfire, Adam Beyer, Len Faki, Marco Carola, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier, Stephan Bodzin, Joris Voorn and many more!
