This evening is especially targetted at those that like to dance and for those of you who have not yet experienced a night in the capable hands of Max, then you're in for a real treat. Max's sets are always exciting, diverse and memorable. Good times are guaranteed.. We will also be joined on the night by our friend and Hong Kong's very own multi-instrumentalist and DJ, Barnaby Bruce. Otaku's Johnny, Samo and Matt will be tag teaming on the decks either side of Max and Barnaby.. Otaku Sound System is a collective of likeminded individuals who currently call Hong Kong their home. Otaku Soundsystem is a relaxed environment in which to let loose and forget about your stresses. Otaku Sound System is the beating heart of the Neon City. Otaku Sound System is what you make it... Come join the dancefloor revolution x ----- Max's Bio: Max Essa made his debut as a producer on the legendary Warp Records label in 1993. Throughout the ‘90s he went on to record for some of the seminal house music labels of the era including Paperecordings, D.i.Y Discs/Strictly 4 Groovers and D-Vision in Italy. In 2006 Max started working with the London based label, Bear Funk. Producing three solo LPs (Continental Drift in 2009, White Shoes Blue Dreams in 2010 and Won Ton Sunset in 2013) and three collaborative albums with Stevie Kotey (Soiree’s Zim Zim Zah Zah and Let’s Play Tennis and The World Of Progressive Disco, produced under a number of different aliases). 2010 saw the second of four 12” released on Is It Balearic? Recordings. The main track, a 20-minute epic entitled ‘Panorama Suite’, received huge critical acclaim and cemented Max’s reputation as a composer and producer. He followed this in 2011 with the highly successful ‘Feel It In Your Body’, which was championed by Andrew Weatherall and the flipside, ‘Heartache’, which was play-listed by NYC disco legend, David Mancuso, amongst others. Since 2008 Max has been living in Japan and can be found playing every week at a variety of Tokyo venues such as Air, Zero, Aoyama Tunnel and Bar Bonobo. Having notched up around 80 events in 2013 (including parties in San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sapporo, Nagoya, Nagasaki, and Fukuoka), 2014 is looking equally hectic.
