Beatnik is all about bringing you the freshest talent from the UK and these guys are no exception. Chris Lorenzo and Kane (Cause & Affect) have taken the Midlands underground music scene by storm over the past 18 months. Their unique sound has brought them a long list of fans including Claude VonStroke, Eats Everything, Marcus Nasty, DJ EZ, Roger Sanchez & Sonny Fodera. The long term friends and studio partners are on a roll with their originals and remixes getting attention from Rinse FM, Food Music, Defected and most notably San Francisco heavyweights Dirtybird, who released ‘Don’t Like To Do That’ earlier this year.
Their fan base has grown from weekly support on Radio 1 & Kiss FM and their Wednesday night show on Rinse FM has given them a chance to show off their mixing skills and showcase the sounds which inspire their immense productions. Energetic, fast and full of low frequencies; the pairing often perform live on 4 CDJs in clubs which has won them over many fans over the years. They’ve played alongside some of the biggest names in house & bass including Breach, Shadow Child, Redlight, Skream & chart-toppers Disclosure.
From playing out to disused warehouses in the Midlands to late night sessions in their studio, Cause & Affect have always maintained a ‘work hard/play hard’ ethic. It is a well-known fact that Chris Lorenzo is the studio engineer behind many of the tracks which has helped catapult the Jackin House/Bass scene into the limelight across the UK*. His 2011 remix of Switch’s ‘I Still Love You’ gained love from many DJs in the scene including Annie Mac and has knocked up almost 250,000 hits on YouTube in the process. His production work on ‘Dappy’ (Food Music) with Hannah Wants has projected her career as one of the best female DJs in the UK scene a fitting clutch between the current UK Bass sound and the dregs of what was popular Dubstep. A certified hard hitting, gritty club banger!
