Phantasy are one of our very favourite labels & we are delighted to have them taking over the Cube on Friday 16th May with the one and only EROL ALKAN and newcomer GHOST CULTURE.
Daniel Avery, Boys Noize, Tom Rolands (half of Chemical Brothers), Boris Dlogosch, Late Of The Pier & many more have released on Phantasy and more recently, the first solo material from label boss EROL ALKAN.
Few DJs around the world are held in higher regard than Erol Alkan…and with good reason. Over the last ten years he’s done it all, from pioneering the bootleg/mash up craze alongside Soulwax, running the seminar Trash nightclub, producing albums for Mystery Jets & Late Of The Pier, remixing Daft Punk, Justice, Hot Chip, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and many more. Add to that hosting a regular BBC 6Music show, making massive club bangers with Boys Noize (and Jarvis Cocker), running Phantasy records, being one half of the brilliant Beyond The Wizards Sleeve and you’re half way there.
Most importantly, Erol Alkan’s DJ sets are the stuff of legends…his merchandise says ‘E.R.O.L. Keeps Kids Dancing’ and that’s exactly what happens. In 2006, Mixmag named him DJ of The Year and David Dewaele of 2manydjs declared in 2010 that Erol is the greatest DJ of all time. We can’t disagree…this is going to be a very special night.
Ghost Culture emerges from the London fog. Finely crafted, delicate songwriting through the mirror of dusty, analogue electronica yet with the ever present pulse of Detroit techno in the distance, in a style that is truly his own.
