  • Tupac Martir – Visual Artist Tupac Martir is a visual artists and creative director with a varied portfolio of projects in the arts and entertainment scene. His aim is to bring a varied, affordable cultural experience to the masses, giving people the opportunity to experience food from top chefs, workshops from some big name performing arts institutions and animators, plus instillations and live music. Tupac is an extremely compelling character, bursting with enthusiasm and energy. He really embodies his ethos of sharing creativity with others, completely disregarding any opportunity for financial gain - a rare breed! He has also provided production design, visuals and lighting direction for Elton John, Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Beyoncé, Coachella Music & Arts Festival, Nederland Dans Theater, Xu Bing at the V&A Museum, the Serpentine Gallery and the Old Vic Tunnels Renowned within the fashion industry Tupac has designed fashion shows for Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Thomas Tait, among others. Tupac is the founder of visual design company Satore Studio, and is currently working on Nierka, as part of a trilogy exploring the inner world of human beings. In the upcoming months he will be production designing shows for These New Puritans at the Barbican Centre & UNKLE at the Southbank Centre In September 2014 he will be the Keynote Speaker at USITT's new conference "Spark" at the University of the Arts in North Carolina, as well as PLASA Focus in Austin, during all these time, he will keep working on other projects worldwide. He has exhibited in Mexico, US, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, UK, as well as being an official entry of the Morelia Film Festival with his multidisciplinary piece “The Gentleman, The Merrmaid, Mexican Cinema, Loteria!!!” originally created for the British Council as part of the Cultural Olimpyad during London 2012. Tupac’s work has been published in major publications, such as Wallpaper* Magazine, Live Design and LSI, and he has developed a reputation for creating unique productions for several art forms including fashion, music, theatre, opera and ballet. Tupac Martir, creator of Looking Outside My Window says “Anything is possible.The art in this, is the idea of spreading all these smiles and happiness and memories. I want to introduce something into the area that is a bit unusual. The idea of getting all sorts of different people to come into one space that would never usually be there. It's an all encompassing experience for visitors and performers.” Rich Mix Rich Mix is a charity and social enterprise that offers live music, film, dance, theatre, comedy, spoken word and a range of creative activities for people of all ages and all cultures. All profits go back to support our education, arts and community activities which nurture new and local talent. Objectives To deliver a world-class artistic programme that reflects, and is accessible to, the diverse communities who live in East London To strengthen our financial position by maximising usage of and income from the spaces in the building and by reducing costs wherever possible To build our audience numbers and our reach to target groups - especially our local communities - which includes improving our marketing and customer service Achievements 2012-13 was a successful year at Rich Mix both artistically and financially. In this time we have: Offered 469 Arts & Culture, Educational and Film events, of which 214 events were free to access. Sold over 25,000 tickets for paid Arts & Culture events. Ran events for children, schools and families which reached 4,759 children, young people and adults. Sold 106,282 cinema tickets: 98,941 for main releases – 1,641 more than our target – and 7,341 for festivals and independent films. Continued and expanded our discounted cinema ticket scheme for local people with over 3166 tickets sold and continued discounted pricing for our education and schools events for LBTH residents as part of our drive to build local audiences. Supported 86 different companies and artists by providing free rehearsal space with a value of over £200,000 (at our corporate hire rates). Provided a home for 19 creative businesses with a turnover of over £28 million, and which support over 300 jobs, of which over 27% are employees from BAME communities. Continued to take the lead in setting up a network for other LBTH organisations to collaborate and make the case for the importance of the arts.
