  • ELK ELK is the new musical outlet of the scandinavian long players Dj Nibc and VINNY VILLBASS. First edition will be at Chesters Berlin, showing off scandinavian electronic muscles including 22o´clock concerts by Ole Torjus and Sprutbass, live set by Hans Berg, resident action by Nibc and Vinny Villbass, and of course a release feast surprise on the occasion of Vinny Villbass new 12" on Eskimo Recordings. 22:00 CONCERTS =============== OLE TORJUS [LIVE] (NO) Ole Torjus is a young producer who musically moves freely around in the Norwegian club scene. Some words to describe him are hyper-catchy, lo-fi house, and "Four Tet meets Norwegian mountains". The live performance is just him and a live drummer, and they deliver a sweaty, hot and dancy show, both in clubs and at festivals this summer. In addition to this self titled project, he founded norwegian producer collective Rytmeklubben, and has also performed with artists like Casiokids and Lindstrøm. SPRUTBASS [LIVE] (NO) Over the course of the last five years, Norwegian Sprutbass, or Eivind Henjum if you want to call him by his birth name, has gained major attention on the international music circuit with his analog synth-based Electro Funk. Sprutbass made his debut on Dødpop in 2008 with the critically acclaimed 7” Ulykke and has since then released music on Finnish Harmönia and UK record label Ninja Tune. Critics have described his music as “the best synth work since the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack” and “Friday night at EDMX’s place”. Nevertheless, Henjum made a claim as to why he deserves the amount of buzz he receives when he set a new record for attendance and created a mosh pit at the Apollo stage at the Roskilde Festival in 2012. Over the last year, Sprutbass has been touring solidly overseas and filling up dance floors in Paris, New York, Barcelona and Berlin. When not on tour, the Berlin-based talent has been working extensively in the studio on his debut album, which will be released on Dødpop in 2014. Meanwhile we give you this 9-track EP with remixes of Schengen-Funk from Pyrolator (Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft or D.A.F.), Sandra Kolstad, Melkeveien, Full Pupp’s Øyvind Morken, Sex Judas (Ost & Kjex), amongst others. 24:00 -> ..... CLUB ============== HANS BERG [LIVE] (Fullbarr / CrimeCityDisco, SE) Hans Berg’s productions are truly unique. His inspiration derives from a wide spectrum of alternative music. From drumming in punk bands and experimenting with synthesizers (mimicking the slow-down speed-up break of Lil Louis’ French Kiss) in his youth, to going raving and producing his own techno tracks in the years that followed. His collaborations with Swedish video artist Nathalie Djurberg have seen him travel the world showing their work in well known museums and art spaces, most notably the Venice Biennale 2009, where Hans made an experimental six channel surround system soundtrack for their installation, for which they received the prestigious Silver Lion Award. With more than a decade of music production under his belt, a recent solo EP ‘Machines’ on UK based label Full Barr, and an exquisite live show, Hans is ready to make his presence felt. VINNY VILLBASS (Eskimo Recordings, NO) + RELEASE FEAST SURPRISE For 15 years, Vinny Villbass has been one of the main influences on the Norwegian club scene, with a musical focus on percussive and disco-oriented house music. In addition to having a master degree in acoustics, Håkon "Villbass" Vinnogg has been recommending music on Norwegian national radio and functioned as one of the hosts of the legendary Sunkissed nights in Oslo. He has been Diskjokke´s dj-partner since the end of the 90’s and has played guitar and synth in the DiskjokkeBand. He is also one of two curators behind the much hyped contemporary stage project Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Laboratory. Vinny Villbass is currently also running the Norwegian web-portal OsloClubCast where he is building ties between the clubs, djs, and producers of Oslo. NIBC (Trunkfunk, SE) Berlin-based, Gothenburg-born Fredrik Nyberg has long been a key player on Sweden's music landscape, being voted the Best DJ of 2003 by Yo Media, and ranked #7 in Scandanavia's 100 Best DJ's Poll in his early career, he is now well known as producer, DJ, collaborator, remixer, promoter, and label head of Trunkfunk Records, winning DJ support from the likes of DJ Koze, Moodymann and Annie Mac. His recent smash house hit with Life So Far, You Let Me Go, was snapped up by the institution Ministry of Sound. Along the way, the tongue-in-cheek solo breakout The Doorman and props from his peers - the solo EP Hold On which was licensed to Ministry of Sound, the NME video feature and playlist support from Dubfire, Damian Lazarus and Todd Edwards for Spiders Spins, the nods from Miike Snow for "Rymdstungen" in their BBC1 Essential Mix, and the inclusion of "A Million Secrets" in DJ T.'s edition of Fabric's mix series - all contributed to NIBC'S steady trajectory to uppermost ranks of house music.
