RICK WADE (Harmonie Park // Robsoul // Track Mode // Rush Hour) - Detroit
Rick Wade was born in Michigan, less than an hour from Chicago's South Side. In the mid '80s, while studying at the University, Wade gained his first gigs spinning deep underground house at the Nectarine Ballroom, the venue where "The Wizard" (aka Jeff Mills) was also making his name. Simultaneously, Wade maintained a successful show on WCBN named "Journey To The Land of House." Other presenters were impressed with his material and mixing skills and soon asked him to prepare mixes for their own shows. His show was a huge success, as were his subsequent gigs at clubs in and around Detroit.
Some time around 1991 Rick was working on a mix for Brendan Gillen's 'Crush Collision' show and ran out of tracks that he wanted to include. Wade turned to creating tracks that would fit perfectly with his selections, he hasn't looked back since. By '93, Wade was able to build his own studio and form a label, Harmonie Park. Wade has released his textured brand of house not only on his own label but also on the likes of; Moods and Grooves, ATC, M3, Elevate, Chord 44/Container, Out Of The Box, New York's 'Trackmode' and Phil Week's 'Robsoul Recordings'.
Today, Rick Wade enjoys a reputation as one of the premier House mixshow producers in the world and anyone who likes deep & funky vibes should definitely find a chance to see him play live. He plays the best venues and parties from the 'Motor City' and across the globe, along side equally respected names such as; Mike Huckaby, Theo Parrish, Tom Trago, Moodymann, Andrés and Kevin Saunderson. Every Rick Wade set is fresh and spontaneous. Drawing its energy directly from the unique vibe of each party, Rick exposes the deepness to the crowd, taking the vibe to an emotional peak where it merges with the body, mind, and spirit into a continuous musical orgasm that lasts long after his set is over.
