On Thursday 25th September you can catch some of the most celebrated names in the dance music industry at this years DJ Awards which will be held at Pacha, Ibiza. This prestigious awards ceremony is celebrating 11 years of the event, now one of the most important award ceremonies across the globe that recognizes the work of the most talented DJ's worldwide and of those people that have contributed significantly to the music industry.
This year the list of the Categories and the Nominees have grown significantly to adapt to the changes happening in the dance music scene - the 2008 categories and nominees can be found at http://www.djawards.com/.
The prestigious "Kryptonite" awards go to a host of DJs from different musical genres. These awards are extremely important to each of the nominees as they are voted for by the public, voting will start on MONDAY 21 JULY and will close on SUNDAY AUGUST 17, voting can be done via http://www.djawards.com/. By voting people will automatically enter a competition to win an amazing trip to Ibiza, which will include flights and hotel, plus VIP invites to the ceremony, they will also win a complete kit of the DJ Awards merchandise.
In the past, this event has been attended by dance music's top DJs, previous winners, such as Erick Morillo, Roger Sánchez, Sven Vath, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox plus many more have had the honour of receiving the mythic "Kryptonite" award. This event continues to be a family reunion amongst the DJ collective, who love to come together and celebrate the industry they have influenced.
There will be some very special guest performances during the awards ceremony on Thursday 25th September, with the official after party continuing with the closing party from the F**k Me I'm Famous Crew featuring David Guetta and very special guests.
The theme for this is years event is "DO NOT CHANGE THE CLIMATE, CHANGE YOURSELF!" highlighting the voice of concern to the music industry and how we as an industry can help to make change by changing our attitudes.
The artwork for the Climate Change theme of the event is also reflected in the cover of the 11th Edition CD compilation featuring the best tracks of the season all in their original versions, specifically for DJs to use.
