***MAX COOPER***
For a man that’s only just released his debut album, Human (“Insanely Good”- FADER, “Impossibly Gorgeous”- FACT), there’s a very good reason why Max Cooper’s got 70,000+ likes on Facebook, has been invited to remix Hot Chip, was Beatport Artist of the Year, and was voted one of Resident Advisor's top 20 live acts.
Picked up by Richie Hawtin’s booking agency, Max is graciously sandwiching his set at Digital City between prestigious events in Germany including Fusion festival alongside everyone’s favourite raveship- the MS Stubnitz- and the more homely hallowed grounds of Glastonbury and the Secret Garden Party.
Following in the footsteps of Jon Hopkins for a long overdue Digital City debut, for some, techno may be at the heart of Max’s sound, but that would be unfair. His hybrid live/DJ performance explodes from delicate, reflective electronica into pounding groove within a moment, but just as fearlessly throttles back to moments of stillness and silent beauty.
Sound cinematic? Well, it is- though this is cinema to get your wiggle on to. He’s commissioned much-exalted international film makers from Russia, France, and Italy to make deep space visual accompaniments to his music, and will slot in like-a-penny-in-an-arcade alongside Digital City’s 4 projectors and resident VJs @ the Bussey Building.

***SHUR-I-KAN***
Joining Max for a welcome DC debut is redoubtable Freerange and Dark Energy deep house don, Shur-i-kan, who was of course also part of improvisational Supergroup, The Bays. We don’t know where to start with the sheer giddy amount of seminal (and for that matter utterly atmospherically groovy) releases Shur-i-kan’s effortlessly rolled out over the years, but we paste with much aplomb his Soundcloud page below, and as a DC favourite, if you’ve ever been to a Digital City, you may tacitly be a fan already.
***DC RESIDENTS***
Max and Shur-i-kan will be book-ended by Digital City’s resident electronic music aficionados, DJ BarryDark, Richtek, Remote and Tentonatom, with VJs Parallax and Mach V dropping visual bombs like it’s hot.
***ROOFTOP ACTION***
In fact, being summer and all- it will (should) be hot! Just as well the ever-astonishing Bussey Building will have both a roof bar and terrace open (while of course multistory carpark-topping Frank’s Campari Bar is next door) for those wishing for the Al Fresco.
***DC FILM***
Finally, we are also pleased to announce the return of Digital City Film, which will welcome proceedings with a selection of Shorts, Animations and Music Promos from 9pm, before boogying gets underway proper….
