Dominic, Illyus & Ivan are good mates and rarely have the oppurtunity to play together on the same stage. This is one for the diaries. "This night should have a health warning." A quote from the lads last month as we were getting the ball rolling. We can see things getting a little crazy down in the La Cheetah basement !
After a break of two and a half years, Dominic Martin is back with new original music. Striving For Truth takes in influences from both Europe and the USA, most notably the classic house sound of Chicago and New York, and the UK’s warehouse parties. The EP will be released as a digital download on 14th April 2014.
Dominic Martin’s journey with Lost My Dog began at the start of 2008 with two collaborations with Chris Harris (‘Jazzmag’ and ‘King Of Swing’), swiftly followed with his debut solo outing ‘Touch Of Soul’ which was remixed by Milton Jackson. The three-track ‘East Glasgow Deep EP’ and a remix of Artie Flexs in 2010 continued the strong relationship between the Scotsman and LMD, and in 2011 he went under his Domsko guise, teaming up with singer-songwriter Astral T for the Johnny Fiasco remixed ‘Hard Yards’, ahead of his full length Family Affair collection in 2011 which featured eight new tracks.
Illyus & Barrientos have been building quite a reputation over the past few years. Having individually released on reputable labels, they are gearing up to release their first collaborative EP on Glasgow Underground. ‘Do Anything You Wanna’, which is out now, see’s them rooted firmly in classic house territory, with the lead track, of the same name, incorporating catchy vocals with a piano heavy riff. On the B side, ‘The Times We Shared’ is a bit moodier, but equally floor-filling. With radio plays from the likes of Skream, Danny Howard and Pete Tong, not to mention an endless list of support from Groove Armada to John Digweed to Sasha, 2014 is shaping to be an incredible year for Illyus & Barrientos. When we were at Hideout Festival Croatia the lads new track 'Ballin' was dropped by BrEaCh mid set. This kind of support is what we all want for local lads !
