It is hard to believe that it has been a whole THREE YEARS since THE DEEP NORTH was officially founded in a dusty basement den right above Dufferin subway lines which Dick Diamonds called his home. Seems like yesterday that Maxwell church was banging his head on all the low ceilings during the long nights spent designing the blog and planning the very first LATE & DEEP events... anyone remember those? The little loft with one bathroom and the 2 story concrete staircase down into the inescapable, too-close-for comfort smoking alley... We still can't believe nobody managed to fall face first down those bad boys...
Who remembers the near misses, the parties that almost got shut down, the rammed jams, the half rammed jams, the sweatbox events at infamous venues like the Red Door Loft, or even further back at Aruba and Zion Lounge. Who remembers the 2 story jam where the lineup to the kegs was so long that you would think it was the bathroom lineup from hell? The fire alarm that went off during Alicia Hush's set, where dancers hoisted up one another to shut the damn thing off? Our 1-year anniversary with BUBBA & NATHAN BARATO? The event where Sacha Robotti's Alien Infliux soundsystem went kaput and he played out with his monitor? The 2-year anniversary party on the rooftop on Yonge street, and the countless other good times we have had together!!? THE GOOD FUCKING TIMES!
Holy shit. Incredible... Thank god those days are behind us... Just kidding, they were some of the best times of our lives and we want to keep it going as long as possible... Thank you for supporting the crew and the events everyone - - without you guys, these jams would be nothing.
Sure, we have come a long way since starting in this game like newborn giraffes standing on pathetic wobbling legs, but we are still just a bunch of goons looking to make good music happen for a good group of good people. Through these events, we have all made many wonderful friends and share many amazing memories. Together the Deep North Crew's members have all grown as people, musicians, djs, promoters producers, planners, designers, and god knows what else we have improved at (and our mothers would kill us if they knew).
