Hidden Agenda are psyched to announce that two of the most forward thinking names in hip-hop; Killer Mike and El-P aka RUN THE JEWELS will stop by the Opium Rooms on December 21st for their debut Irish show! Tickets on sale tomorrow Sept 17th from Ticketmaster.ie.
El-P and Killer Mike seemed like an unlikely pairing on paper, but the duo subverted and pulverized all expectations with their critically lauded self-titled LP last year. With that LP they cemented their musical alliance with uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop and garnering limitless accolades including the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL & New York Times. Their sophomore album RTJ2, is due for an autumn release with the first taster dropping via Adult Swim’s Single Series this month.
Killer Mike earned his own hit in 2003 with ‘A.D.I.D.A.S.’ He debuted two years earlier on "The Whole World," from the greatest-hits Big Boi and Dre Present...OutKast. Two years later a second volume appeared and then, in 2011, the series graduated to “aboveground” status when the third volume, PL3DGE, landed on the SMC label. His 2012 effort R.A.P. Music landed on the Williams Street label and was produced exclusively by the adventurous beatmaker El-P.
El-P, aka El Producto, is one of hip-hop's most obstinate and adventurous pioneers, combining a lo-fi old-school aesthetic with a progressive rock musician's inclination to push boundaries. He has never succumbed to the demands of corporate rap, instead choosing to pursue his own decidedly non-commercial direction.
