  • Compuphonic aka Maxime Firket grew up surrounded by music. He studied music theory and classical music at the Academy and did not choose the easy route by opting to study the cello. "A demanding and monodic instrument which forces you to find the right sound and the right note to make yourself heard. My cello background is still useful to me today." As an adolescent, he dreamt of playing in a rock group, but also discovered Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Detroit techno. After having created his own studio and put together a few mixes on a Roland Compuphonic synthesiser (yes, that’s where the name comes from...), Maxime soon found himself behind the decks at Dirty Dancing nights in Brussels . In 2006, his reputation exploded on the dance floor with the groovy “Emotion", produced in collaboration with Tiga and released on his label ‘Turbo’. Maxime has his finger in lots of different pies and is equally at ease at festivals as in the studio. In addition, Compuphonic has done different remixes for Crystal Fighters, Martin Solveig, The Presets, Arsenal and Petula Clark which are played by the crème de la crème. "We are the music that we create" and this has never been more true than with “Sunset”. For the occasion he got together with American soul singer/violinist Marques Toliver (Bella Union), to create a piece of hedonistic house that is entirely characteristic of his style. Spontaneous, positive, natural, open to large spaces, ambitious but always accessible. "All these elements are the common denominator of my music", explains Compuphonic, "In my productions, I naturally search for originality, but also simplicity, efficiency, emotion and some sort of positive melancholy.” Sunset reached 6 000 000 views on YouTube and got massive support on BBC RADIO 1 by Annie Mac, Pete Tong & Rob Da Bank. It also got featured on key sites including XLR8R, Data Transmission, The 405, Discobelle, Gotta Dance Dirty, Harder Blogger Faster, Soundplate and many more. You can find a vast amount of overwhelmingly positive coverage of all remixes online and every track is now featured on the Hype Machine. On top of that, Compuphonic completed interviews with Discobelle and Attack Magazine and confirmed with DJ Mag, Harder Blogger Faster, STFD, Forward Disco, Local Suicide and more. With releases on labels such as Tiga's Turbo, 20:20 Vision and his own Union Match Music, Compuphonic has long been regarded by those in the know as one of Europe's best new producers and DJs. Now signed to Exploited and released 2 EP’s, Radio Atlantis & O Cypress and shows at such prestigious events as Trans Musicales de Rennes, Eurosonic and SXSW in the US, he's set to become one of Europe's best known too. CHASING KURT From their effortless studio sessions, to touring Europe as a tight-knit three-piece group, Chasing Kurt bring a touch of class to house music and represent a prime example of how the new generation are pushing the music forward. Made up of vocalist Lukas together with musicians Wojtek and Pascal, Chasing Kurt have cultivated a sound that is both accessible and deep, sublime yet dancefloor-ready and wholly captivating. In the few years they’ve been together they have amassed a strong back catalogue of work, and continue to work on new compositions on a daily basis, travelling all over Europe with their superlative live act. There was an immediate connection between the three men, a close bond was formed immediately and they produced more ideas, more songs, and a deeper understanding of one another. These formative sessions resulted in their first releases, including ‘Money’, which was discovered by Maya Jane Coles for her DJ Kicks mix on !K7 Records and helped to establish Chasing Kurt as one of the foremost deep house groups in the business. The group’s talents soon caught the attention of influential German label Suol. The album ‘From The Inside’ was released by Suol in 2013. It was the result of an extended period of studio sessions, which remained as raw, honest and experimental as they were at the very beginning of the trio’s mission to chase Kurt. The album marked a milestone in their music careers and picked up widespread praise from across the board, including a feature in BBC Radio1 Pete Tong’s ‘Future Stars’. Parallel to their creative endeavours in the studio they started touring extensively throughout the mainland, playing at clubs and festivals including Social Club (Paris), Egg (London), Sankeys (Ibiza), Watergate (Berlin), Sky Bar (Beirut), Indigo (Istanbul) and many more. Over the past few months Chasing Kurt have been locked away in the studio working on new material. Now, a new chapter begins with new EP’s, a second album almost wrapped up and plans to get back on the road with their live show. It’s only a matter of time before their hard work and natural born talent takes them to the top. To be continued...
