  • bassline/niche/4x4/2step/booty/funky Wifey is a bimonthly bassline house night in east London. Friday 17 October will be the biggest one yet, featuring Dexplict and Illmana. This time there are live PA's from mystery guests we can't announce, but they're huge names doing it for love not money. As usual, entry is only £5. We want to support the London scene by booking DJs like October headliner Dexplicit, producer of Lethal Bizzle's grime anthem 'Pow' and proprietor of bassline label DXP. However, Wifey is also based on bringing down northern and Midlands acts for rare London sets. This time we have Nottingham's Illmana, the man behind the Bad Mannerz label. Previous guests include Wittyboy, Rekless, Nay Nay, DJ Undecided, Bok Bok and Manara, DJ Venom and Damage. Dexplicit Dexplicit is the producer behind Lethal Bizzle's Number 11 grime hit 'Pow'. He is now better known as one of the originators of the bassline sound. He's responsible for some of the scene's biggest remixes and another production for Lethal B on 'Keyz to the Bentley'. As well as DJing, he'll be joined by some well-known mystery guests for live grime and bassline PA's. http://www.myspace.com/dexplicit Illmana Illmana is one of the biggest names in the Midlands. Apart from DJing and producing, he runs the Bad Mannerz label, which releases grime, funky and hip-hop as well as bassline. http://www.myspace.com/illmana Girl U No It's True GUNIT is one of the residents at Night Slugs, the party run by fellow bass fans Bok Bok and Manara. His heavily tweaked Ableton sets mix up booty house, ghetto-tech and rave classics. http://www.myspace.com/girlunoitstrue Hot City Hot City is the alter-ego of the man behind Last.fm's gig, club and festival activies. In both versions he comes with a big moustache. He'll be playing a set of UK garage classics. Love's Tru Flavour and Soft Target The Wifey residents and promoters are committed bassline-lovers, but like to mix it up with grime, funky, dancehall and booty. They've also played at The End, Electrowerkz, Barden's Boudoir and the Lovebox festival.
