DJ Kev the Head is spinning records and promoting gigs in and around Bern, Switzerland since 1994, always heavily influenced by all kinds of music and styles from the UK, from Jungle to Hip Hop, Drum n' Bass, Electro, Electronica, Breakbeat, Techno and House.
Kev's musical career is strongly linked with the Reitschule, - Bern's infamous alternative cultural and political center. Here Kev started putting on Dub Reggae records before and after concerts by Industrial, Noise and Punk-Rock bands.
Punk Rock and Reggae Music was closely linked from the beginning, and since Kev had an open ear for Hip Hop on top of this, the rising wave of electronic music soon swept him away into an ocean of sound.
In the 90s, the Criminal Justice Act in England - designed to make all kinds of partying illegal - brought on a wave politically motivated alternative raves which left quite an impression on Kev and opened his ears to Hardcore Breakbeat and Rave music, aka the House and Techno music he originally hated.
Kev had always been an eager dancer and after dabbling with ambient music for a while, dancing soon became the driving force behind his DJing. Fused with his love for a pint or two, his DJ sets would often turn to riotous raving behind the decks.
Kev the Head is a founding member of the Mouthwatering Club Night and record label as well as the CUE Collective and the Echo Club night. There's a couple of acts which Kev promoted and DJ'd with over the years that are an ongoing source of inspiration to him, - these include EON, Baby Ford, Depth Charge, Bomb the Bass, Andrew Weatherall, Keith Tenniswood and Tony-Scott (Edit-Select, Percy X). Kev is a vinyl collector and a Vinyl Solution or DC Recordings record will always get a prominent place in his selection.
Kev the Head's eclectic musical style goes from Electro Breaks & Oldschool House to Instrumental Deep House, Dubhouse, Techno, Dubstep... and then there's Acid of course... one of his nights is called: "Down to Rave".
