Welcome our first US guest DJ at Dancing For Mental Health - none other than one of the biggest legends of the world of diggers: DJ Amir from Kon & Amir, who we all know and love from a series of compilations on BBE Records that introduced even the most hardened diggers to another layer of yet undiscovered Disco, Afro and Latin music.
Amir runs the record label 180 Proof and tours the world digging for rare records that most mere mortals have never heard before and probably will never hear again. He always has his eyes on the next rare and unheard of private pressing, spanning many genres, but generally centred around the styles of Soul, Funk, Disco, Jazz, Afro and Latin music.
While Kon plays a lot of gigs around Europe, Amir is very rarely on tour on this side of the Atlantic. All the more reason to look forward to this party where he will play an extended set for us at our favourite little party basement in Berlin, Sameheads.
Expect a lot of curveballs, stuff you never heard before, next level obscure but still great and very danceable music, a lot of it on 7" and never released on LP or 12".
This really will be a party for the connaisseurs of dance music who like it deep and real.
Support on the night as usual by our residents Tom Bolas and Budino & Dama and as always we will be playing on a DJR400 analog rotary mixer to get the best out of the sound system.
