Green Villain was born six years ago at 51 Pacific Avenue on the outskirts of Jersey City. It was a large complex with many floors, rooftops and a half a mile long alleyway, which was filled with top shelf graffiti and street art. Inside there was a creative community that resulted in routine art exhibitions, photo/video productions, small parties and the long evening ones that lasted until sunrise. (https://vimeo.com/63289533) In 2014 the record label Green Village was founded and began releasing underground dance music from artists we met through Jersey City and New York.
Five hundred feet down the road from the famed warehouse, this coming Saturday, September 5, 2015 Green Villain is hosting a live 12 hour music festival in the heart of Bergen-Lafayette at a private open air space. Jersey City based artists Dakini9 and DJ Spider who also run Plan B Recordings, Sub Level Sounds and Sound Warrior Recordings will each be playing 3 hour sets in celebration of Dakini9’s Iron Jungle EP (#GV003) which physically gets released on the label this Saturday as well. Thefft who remixed Policy’s, Come Through For Me GV’s first vinyl release (#GV002) will be playing as well as Hudson County based Nicuri who features on GV’s first 14 track digital remix compilation (#GV001). Cloy & Em-Et will select when needed, so don’t fret.
Long time friends Iris Records will be sending out Steven Sylvestri and the infamous Tab Jones to open the day up in style. Tab Jones has releases 2 limited cassettes on Green Village in 2014 and this show will serve as the official launch for his forthcoming cassette, Tabropos (GVT003). Expect food trucks, art, apparel and vinyl vendors and an open grill for anyone who wants to bring something to cook. River Horse will be chilled and available for all attendees over the age of 21.
This 12 hour event will begin at 4PM and go long into the night on a proper sound system so be sure to come prepared for rare night of music in Jersey City. The entire contents of our online store will be for sale at the party for 40% off—our new slipmats, tshirts, prints, stickers, hats, records, cassettes and who knows what else. We will also be giving away River Horse 6 packs to special guests.
