ロンドンをベースに活動しているWarp Records契約のエレクトロニックアーティストデュオ、ダークスター。
初期のグライムやダブステップといったエレクトロニック・サウンドを融合した画期的な12インチ作品、伝説的なクラブ・イベントFWDへの出演などで、当時のポスト・ダブステップ・ムーブメントの中でも異彩を放ち、コード9主宰レーベル〈Hyperdub〉からリリースされたデビュー・アルバム『North』が、いきなり各国の年間ベストに選出されるなど、衝撃的なデビューを飾る。
2013年には〈Warp〉へと移籍し、2ndアルバム『News from Nowhere』をリリースし、ここ日本でもSonarSound Tokyoとフジロック・フェスティバルに出演するなど人気と知名度を高めた。

なんと今回は9/30リリース予定の新作3rd アルバム『Foam Island』をひっさげ、WWW渋谷で行われるオールナイトクラブイベントのヘッドアクトとしてライブセットで登場！！

Warp Records-signed, critically acclaimed London electronic duo Darkstar, back after 2 years with a new album and live show, are confirmed to return to Japan for all night club event alongside Tokyo electronic music talent!
Darkstar first coalesced in the underground, electronic thrum of London’s nascent grime and dubstep sphere in the middle 2000’s, growing from attending the now-fabled early FWD club nights to releasing a pair of game-changing 12” singles on Kode 9’s fledgling Hyperdub label. These were marked departures at the time, fusing unique sonic futurism with an avant-garde pop sensibility that immediately set the duo of Aiden Whalley and James Young apart from the glut of producers emerging at the time. The release of their debut full-length North followed, to wide acclaim. After a move in 2013 to Warp Records, the pair released their second album, “News from Nowhere”, followed by well-received appearances in Japan at SonarSound Tokyo and Fuji Rock Festival.
Foam Island, the third studio LP from Darkstar, scheduled for release 30th September (via Beatink in Japan), is a beautiful contemporary electronic pop album. Following their early dancefloor 12”s on Hyperdub from 2008 and through two vocal-led albums in 2010 and 2013, Darkstar have been an influential force in the UK’s electronic scene. With the release of Foam Island they prove that they remain at the cutting edge of artists pushing its form. Following collaborations with the likes of Actress, Wild Beasts and Zomby, and taking cues from peers such as Jon Hopkins and Four Tet, it is an ambitious record, buzzing with the energy and excitement of all the possibilities inherent in electronic music in 2015. The band say: “it’s a culmination of everything we’ve written up to this point, the club and electronic side but also trying to tell a story”.
Back after a 2 year absence, the group are are confirmed to appear live as part of a special one-off all night Tokyo show at the intimate Shibuya www, with supporting acts from the Tokyo electronic scene to be announced shortly!
