Wilkes' unique party OPTIMO, where you're as likely to see the dancefloor whooping it up to Aphex Twin or obscure 50s rock'n'roll, as you are Depeche Mode or Peaches (if not an unlikely mash-up of all four), remains one of the most far-sighted and fundamentally exciting club nights on the planet. 11 years in, DJ/ promoters Keith McIvor (JD Twitch) and Jonnie Wilkes (JG Wilkes) show no signs of flagging. Their creativity and enthusiasm is undimmed.
Friendly Fires do indie-dance so well because of a deep grounding in house and techno. Jack is an impressive DJ playing jacking house all night and hosts his underground DEEP SHIT parties in basement spaces and on NTS radio in London.
