Don’t miss it! THEO PARRISH Theo Parrish was born in Washington D.C. in 1972 and raised in Chicago where his passion for music developed. Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, George Gershwin, Bob Marley, as well as his uncle, jazz musician Dexter Sims, all had strong influences on Theo's early musical life. Chicago's radio influences like Farley Jackmaster Funk on WBMX and House artists such as Ron Hardy, Larry Heard, Frankie Knuckles, Walter Get Down Brown and Andre Hatchett, helped to spawn Mr. Parrish's early career. Theo began spinning records and producing tracks in 1986, at the age of thirteen. In 1994, Theo Parrish moved to Michigan where he became heavily involved in Detroit's underground music scene and gained the attention and respect of djs, producers, and dancers worldwide. MARCELLUS PITTMAN Marcellus “Malik” Pittman’s passion for music began in the early '80s. When other kids were playing with G.I. Joe’s, Detroit native Marcellus was listening to the “The Wizard” AKA Jeff Mills on WJBL as well as the “Electrifying Mojo.” Marcellus began his DJ pursuit at college parties in the early 90’s and in 1993 he released his initial work of production with local Detroit Hip-Hop collective “Home Grown.” Shortly thereafter, he released “Essential Selections, Vol. 1” on the Sound Signature label headed by Theo Parrish. In 1998, Marcellus forged a working relationship with Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish and Kenny “Moodymann” Dixon Jr., collectively known as the ‘3 Chairs.’ Marcellus is currently heading his own label, Unirhythm while touring internationally bringing the Detroit sound to the masses. ZERNELL Zernell was born in Chicago and started DJing at the age of 14. This was during the early years of house music and like a lot of Chicago teens he religiously listened to the Hot Mix 5 on WBMX. By 1986, Zernell was deep into the Disco/House music culture and was schooled musically by the master Ron Hardy, and his protégé Gene Hunt. They taught him the art of song selection and timing that drives dancers into frenzy. Now hailing from LA, Zernell plays gigs throughout the United States and Europe and runs his label “Grimy!” with the accompanying clothing line Grimy Gear. He recently partnered with Discogs and formed the record fair/dance party event Crate Diggers, whose mission is to push vinyl back to the forefront of dance music.
