Don't: Valentines Edition - For Techno Lovers

  • The last one saw many left outside in the cold, so be sure to get a ticket to ensure entry. In short, we bring in a hoofing Sound System, loads of lights and lazers and London's number 1 Techno crowd and it goes off !! Kamikaze Space Programme has been making waves and turning heads of late, the most high profile yet, being 2 EPs on Mote Evolver, the label run by Mr. Planetary Assault Systems himself, Luke Slater. His productions are wide reaching in style bridging the distance between experimental and dance floor bangers. Percussive and full of surprises with super slick production. KSP’s star is rising so we thought we should get him on here before he gets too massive !! Recent records on Frankfurt based ‘Mindcut’ and legendary Austrian Electro connoisseur DJ Glow’s ‘Trust’ label show his diversity but he’s far from new to this game… In the early 2000’s he exploded on to the drum and bass scene under the name ‘Raiden’ with multiple releases on the legendary Renegade Hardware label, Panacea’s mentalist ‘Position chrome’, his own ‘Offkey records’ and has even graced ‘Hospital records’ with a release. So… We’ve got out of the way that this guy’s capabilities are far reaching, now we can’t wait to hear him work that Techno on our ‘Chillisound’ sound system at Don’t on the 13th February. Berlin’s Hanno Hinkelbein is one of my favourite DJs. Originally half of gnarly Techno outfit Aeox, and the man behind the awesome Null records, where you can find many of his productions (that get played regularly at Don’t parties), Hanno has a locked on energy behind the decks and his selections are pure dungeon style. When we last played together in Prague, his set blew me away so much.. Just the raw energy he emitted was something to remember! .. I literally didn’t recognise any of the tunes but they all had this crazy wildness to them that is, for want of a better word COMPLETELY BADASS ! His selection and knowledge is flawless, and he's long been entertaining crowds at Tresor, Suicide Circus, Berghain and across the world and currently flying high putting out records under an alias so hush hush that i'm sworn to secrecy! Don’t is very proud to be bringing him here for his first London appearance since he played Ugly Funk many years ago. Not only a formidable selector but a good friend and purveryor of great vibes. Plus he had that beard loud and proud before today's hipster generation had even grown their first stubble !! Listen up cos you’re in for a treat !! It’s about time Ben Pest made another appearance. He played live at the first ever Don’t back in 2012 and also alongside Luke’s Anger under the ‘Bebop & Rocksteady’ alias in 2013. His live set remains a party pick me up wherever he takes it and his ethos is clear.. Make music that’s fun and makes you dance with original grooves spaffing out all over the place without ever resorting to "the norm" and sounding like nobody else - No really.. Nobody makes tunes like him !! Ben plays Keyboards for the Ninja Tune signed electronic funk band ‘Pest’ and his love of all things funky transposes perfectly into his Techno live sets. Expect bangers underpinned by tough jacking beats with the most squirmy synths layered over the top with his trademark cacophony of warbles and insane vocal snippets weaving in and out of the mix. Ben’s released music on Don’t, Bonus Round, Victim, Balkan Vinyl, Horror Boogie and Fun In The Murky as well as his own ‘Panic Bridge label plus a new EP coming very soon on I Love Acid ! A well overdue return for Mr. Pest and his machines, and we can't wait to have him back, and this time with a brand new live set to boot ! DJ Altered State makes her Don't debut and will be opening the night for us. It's always good to get some 'fresh blood' on the lineup, but while she may not have played for Don't before, she's been spinning records since 2008 and has been a trusted resident on Techno pushing internet station 'Fnoob Radio' since 2013 with her label 'Hyper Freak' set to launch in 2016! Listening to her selections there's obvious versatility in the music she plays so on the 13th Feb, you can expect a set to get the vibes flowing and the feet itching, reeling you in for the night in a 'real techno' style. Coming highly recommended by a Don't regular (cheers Barbs), we're very much looking forward to hearing what she'll be bringing to the party so be sure to arrive in time to get the full picture ! Plus your resident Jerome Hill ! More info: www.facebook.com/jeromehilldj
