Ascend is a new series of events dedicated to pushing up and coming DJs. Now on our third party, we have showcased raw talent by way of Lockham Audio, Kouslin, Hadda and Puddy.
This time round, we return to the depths of the basement of The Ladybird Bar in Islington to bring you our Heretic label showcase. In celebration of the emerging trio Denham Audio's forthcoming release on the label, we have themselves alongside label head honcho, DJ and producer Cloaka gracing the decks.
Cloaka
Hailing from the midlands but now settled in London, Nathan Patel has been making serious movements as both an artist and label owner. His low-end frequencies and experimental percussion has gained him support from the likes of B.Traits, Scratcha DVA, Last Japan, Alex Coulton & Marcus Nasty. He's also had releases on labels such as Tessier-Ashpool, Madtech and Infinite Machine. In 2014 he launched Heretic to showcase forward-thinking artists making percussively unique and bass-heavy tunes for the dancefloor, and has had four killer releases featuring himself, Barla, Nuvaman, Circo and Wallwork & RZR to name a few.
Denham Audio
The trio of producers based in Sheffield are getting themselves noticed with their 'deadly, dark & danceable' productions, sitting somewhere between UK bass and techno. 2015 has been a progressive year for them, with their recent release on Exploris getting support from the likes of Hodge, Swamp 81 and Toddla T. 2016 is set to be even bigger as January sees the release of their five-track EP for Heretic, including remixes from Cloaka & Boxwork and Silas & Snare.
