White Noise presents Stockholm Syndrome, NO.1 Delicious at The Mercat

  • White Noise Music is at it again. We're bringing our party to the amazing Mercat Basement (www.themercat.com) to feature TWO of Melbourne's best electronic performing artists... the enigmatic Stockholm Syndrome and incredibly talented No.1 Delicious. On Friday night, March 11th the infamous STOCKHOLM SYNDROME and NO.1 DELICIOUS (Darius Bassiray) will take over the main stage at Mercat with their hypnotic sub-120 BPM sonic indie-techno style! STOCKHOLM SYNDROME https://soundcloud.com/the-stockholm-syndrome Stockholm Syndrome are a DJ/producer duo made up of the Scot Iain Mac aka Pyz and Australian Brett Wilson aka Wil-tron. After DJing together at the same party and recognising their similar tastes they formed Stockholm Syndrome in late 2013. Stockholm Syndrome’s style varies widely and can’t be wrapped up in a single genre. They’re drawn to dark, moody, sub 120bpm techno, the raw, energetic Mex-tech, the slow Balaeric, Drug Chug and the strange. In a little over a year since they formed, Stockholm Syndrome have clocked up an impressive gig list DJing at many of Melbourne’s iconic venues such as Revolver Upstairs, New Guernica, The Liberty Social, Boney and Loop Bar. 2015 has seen the boys play an impressive closing set at the inaugural Piknic Electronik Melbourne, a twisted, genre bending set at Unfold/001 and their first 2 original productions have been well received by the other artists such as Gemini Brothers, id!r and Death by Repetition. In 2016, Stockholm Syndrome will enjoy their first debut at Rainbow Serpent which truly exemplifies the duo’s versatility and talent. In Australia, Darius has played the infamous Rainbow Serpent Festival market stage where in 2014 he astonished the Market Stage crowd with his intelligent, risky, and amazingly well received set before Minilogue. He was a resident at the infamous Sunny, whilst his current residency in Melbourne is at the super exclusive “SloMotion” night at My Aeon where each DJ is personally selected by Phil K – one of the most respected figures in Australian dance music. As a DJ, there does not come much more praise than that. Darius is equally at home playing the warm up set for the likes of Lusine, Danny Howells, Sven Vath, John Digweed, Steve Rachmad, Apparat, Minilougue, or Robag Whrume. He is the first choice of Australian warm up DJ for Danny Howells when he performs his 9 hour ‘Dig Deeper’ nights, and can get the call up to play on mainstage Techno Festivals, or set the mood for a party by the beach in Miami, through to intimate super underground obscure house events in basements or South American arena shows. His style always remains current and his versatility is evident by his consistent booking schedule for an array of different parties in Australia and around the world. He started his career as one half of DJ duo Rollin Connection at the turn of the millennium which resulted in the creation of one of Melbourne's most enduring club nights: Darkbeat. Since then he has gone on to embark on a solo career, and co-founded one of Austalia’s leading touring agencies and event companies – Funf Touring. Since 2012, in just over two years, Funf has dramatically exploded onto the Australian scene and is one of the most influential electronic music companies in the country. They toured, promoted and facilitated the 2014 tour of Jeff Mills and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall as the headline show of Melbourne Festival as well as organizing, promoting club shows and nationally touring artists such as Axel Boman, Robert Hood, Mathew Dear, Moby, Tiga, Hernan Cattaneo, Petar Dundov, Leon Vinehall, and many many more. Not content on just being a label owner, Bassiray produces an exquisite strain of deep electronic music which has seen him signed onto many benchmark labels -the most recent being a signing alongside Donato Dozzy's album on the distinguished Further Recordings, Chris Fortier's Fade imprint, Haul Music, Dieb Audio and Manual Music. His records are regularly supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Magda, Slam, Terry Francis, Ivan Smagghe, Kris Wadsworth, Dominik Eulberg, Craig Richards, Marcel Fengler, Lee Burridge, Roman Flugel, Brothers Vibe, Vince Watson, Clive Henry, Sei A, Mark E, & DJ T. Darius Bassiray demands the dancefloor's attention through his immaculate use of dynamic house music, future influenced groove, abstract electronica and deep techno. Add to this his uncanny ability to succeed in all areas he chooses to focus his attention on, Darius Bassiray will be a bench mark name for years to come.
