The application phase for this year’s Academy edition in Montreal has started! To give you a taste of what a day at the Academy feels like, we’re hosting RBMA Sessions with lectures and club nights in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City.
Have all your questions about the Academy and the upcoming application process answered, learn a thing or two, and have some fun along the way. Join in for the lecture session with Chi-Town’s juke & footwork pioneer DJ Spinn at Páramo Galería (Av. Hidalgo 1228, Col. Americana), starting at 7pm.
The guest of honour will also be sending the dancing crew into a frenzy at the RBMA Nights right after, with additional support from tropical low-end champ Toy Selectah, and Mexican Academy alum LAO.
DJ Spinn’s skills behind the turntables, honed from years playing after-school footwork battles against fellow cohort DJ Rashad, provide the perfect soundtrack for adrenaline-fuelled, 160 BPM dance mayhem. Since 1997, Spinn has been turning the dancers out, whether at house parties, rinks, studios, or festivals, and from the House-O-Matics and Dancemania to Planet Mu and Honest Jon’s, he’s dedicated his life to the dance. Condensing that frenetic energy into juke anthems like Bounce n Break Your Back, Spinn has taken the sound of Chicago’s juke movement global.
