RON MORELLI
Quietly kicking around the New York City underground since the late-nineties, Ron Morelli started the L.I.E.S. label in 2010 as an outlet to release the music of a tight knit group of friends who were making tracks around the city. What started as a small project to release his own music and those of local producers, has evolved as more people came out of the woodwork with their contributions.
As time has progressed, the label continues to be a highly respected institution and consistent mainstay in the weird world of off-center electronic music. Releases have come from the likes of artists as diverse as techno pioneer Adam-X, Dutch synth master Legowelt, Black Dice's Eric Copeland, upstart house producer Delroy Edwards, and Miami native Greg Beato.
ADAM X
One of the original techno artist/dj pioneers of the NYC techno scene dating back to 1990. Known in contemporary times globally for his pioneering working in crossing the parallel of techno and industrial music. Adam is also behind the production of the well known deep sci fi techno project "Traversable Wormhole" on CLR . He is was one of the first American techno dj's to break into the German scene back in 1992.
He was co-owner of the legendary Sonic Groove Records shop in NYC . He currently runs "Sonic Groove" the label on his own. A driving force for modern day hard edged industrialized techno music. Formerly of Brooklyn NY, now living in East Berlin, Adam outside of playing around the world, also is known for organizing high caliber techno events in Berlin in the past years.
JAHILIYYA FIELDS (live)
Matthew Morandi returns to L.I.E.S. Records with a new album under his solo moniker, Jahiliyya Fields. Jahiliyya Fields channels fierce new musical thought across 11 tracks of sand-burnt ambience and turmoil-churning techno in his last album, 'Chance Life'. Chance Life sharpens the focus between body and mind music, finding a path for these seemingly opposed ideas to cancel each other out. The symbology inherent to Chance Life is best showcased in the spoken word piece, "'finity disguise", which features a lone speaker in a room not unlike Lucier's espousing the outer fringes of Lacanian psychology.
