  • Cacophonous Sarcophagus, The Island & Elevator Sound: Hieroglyphic Being "Producer and boss of Mathematics records, Jamal Moss a.k.a Hieroglyphic Being is a one-off musical explorer. Jamal’s music takes cues from the EBM and House that played a huge part in the Chicago's musical underground in the late eighties and early nineties, notably Ron Hardy and Adonis, but also Industrial, Avant-Jazz and Noise. His tireless schedule of rough low-key releases over the last 12 years and his intense, very physical, psychedelic music, have made him a key exponent or maybe even a pioneer of what’s recently come to be named ‘Outsider House’, although he prefers the more Sun-Ra like descriptors of ‘Rhythmic Cubism’ and ‘Cosmic Be-Bop’. - Cafe Oto "Jamal Moss has taken the template for Chicago house to increasingly cryptic and esoteric realms, yet never lost sight of its original, raw-to-the-bone, in-the-moment and psychosexual intent. Where others navigate the disco cosmos by GPS beat-matching, Jamal's TomTom follows ancient, searching, internal algorithms to divine more chaotic realms of harmony and rhythmelodic texture that share more in common with the sonic ontologies of Sun Ra and Throbbing Gristle than the reams of stultifying, neo-con marketing tools that are all too often up-sold as lifestyle options to patronised audiences across the world. Jamal's 3 hour+ DJ sets are ecstatic, unquantised and inclusive displays of intuition, knowledge and passion that dovetail the past and possible futures into the immediate present with an ineffable logic that will either be understood deeply, feverishly, or baffle the fuck out of you." - Faktion ___________________________________________ Ekoplekz [Bristol] (Planet Mu, Punch Drunk, Perc Trax, Mordant Music) Nick Edwards aka Ekoplekz, has been quietly tinkering away with his machines since the early 90s. First gaining attention in the mid-00s via his legandary Gutterbreakz blog, he was at the epicentre of the dubstep explosion, albeit as a definite anomaly. Over the years, he has shared releases and collaborated with other outsider figures such as Bass Clef, Baron Mordant, Shackleton & Wanda Group. In the last couple of years he has taken his murky bedroom sound to the international stage with 3 releases for Planet Mu. His latest solo effort, 'Reflekzionz', is a homage of sorts, with “its roots in the hyperactive, euphoric rave, house and techno scenes of the nineties...It focuses on invoking a blurry, saturated false-memory of the leftfield electronica that was the soundtrack to his life.” His analogue hardware productions are equally indebted to contrasting worlds of the German kosmische explorers of the 70s like Cluster & Harmonia, 80s industrial/post-punk pioneers such as Cabaret Voltaire & Thobbing Gristle, the 90s Braindance producers a la Aphex Twin & µ-Ziq and the 21st century dub and bass-wranglings of Bristol veterans like Peverelist and Pinch. _________________________________________ Gabbici Bruuner (Take The Elevator) _________________________________________ Sacred Pools “Mainly known for his off-kilter work in the fields of house and techno, but can be heard on NTS showcasing a fine selection of records for the Sacred Pools show - harshly metallic noise rock, unhinged post-punk, early industrial and chillingly minimal synth records. No holds barred.” ________________________________________ £8 standard £10 on the door 8pm - 3am Bring I.D. No cash machine inside venue No re-entry
