The 1990’s was a golden era for acid and techno, with some of the biggest tracks of the decade slamming their way through warehouses, clubs and festivals across the world, rippling like a fresh wave of cultural energy through our collective subconscious, imprinting upon us the feeling of collective empowerment that has lead us forward to this very day.
In the first event of its kind we will recreate these intoxicating moments and annihilating rhythms, and take you back to a place where musical rebellion was the key to our existence. Some of the best loved and most well known tracks in Acid and Techno history provided a scorching soundtrack to the 90’s. Now join us and witness them in the present, utilising cutting edge technology to provide brain rattling sound and retina sizzling visuals in an electrifying London warehouse, alongside one of the most exciting line-ups to date with legends from the era representing on full frequency undiluted vinyl all night.
DJ MISJAH
We can now reveal the first exclusive artist for RETROFLEX on Saturday 16th July and we are extremely excited to have an international DJ of this calibre on board for our first all 90’s all vinyl event, as he truly represents the spirit of this golden era. If you’ve partied at warehouses, clubs or festivals over the last 25 years, there’s a good chance you’ve gone crazy to his music before – he’s an innovator, production inspiration and living legend to many.
Starting in 1991 as DYEWITNESS, his tracks “OBSERVING THE EARTH”, “WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR”, “THE FUTURE” and “THE MASTERPLAN” cemented his place in dance music history forever.
Following this in 1994 he created the much loved X-TRAX imprint, one of the most highly respected techno & acid labels of the 90’s. With this trailblazing project he was responsible for some of the most well known tracks of the decade, including: “TRIPPIN OUT”, “THE CLUB”, “KEEP YOUR LOVE”, “SPECIAL ACID EDITION”, and of course the worldwide dancefloor smash “ACCESS”, which sold over 50,000 units across all formats to hit the English charts in 1995.
Always in the record boxes of some of the most high profile dj’s in the world at the time, and highly sought after for remixing by the likes of JOSH WINK & JAM AND SPOON, this artist continued to innovate through the 90’s, producing under different names including AMbassador and later set up the RERUN label and agency. His three turntable vinyl sets were highly sought after at some of the biggest clubs and festivals around the world, and this was testament to his world-class technical skill and peak time tune selection.
In 2009 he setup what is now one of the most highly respected mastering rooms in Europe: 24Mastering, still supporting the vinyl industry by creating some of the highest standard recording masters that are cut to wax today.
This artist is one of the truest icons of the era, and he will be joining us at RETROFLEX on July 16th with a special three turntable vinyl set to blow the roof off our party at an electrifying London warehouse.

BILLY NASTY
RETROFLEX can now reveal the second artist for our mammoth event on Saturday 16th July! This guest is a true vinyl crusader, from early beginnings as a rare groove and funk DJ, through forays into acid house and then working at legendary record shop ZOOM, show-stopping sets at every major techno club & festival around the world, record production and label management, plus previously running one of London’s most well loved techno club nights.
Today he still supports the vinyl scene with his Brighton record shop ‘THE VINYL CURTAIN’, and continues to light up dancefloors at some of the most prestigious events and infamous clubs around the world dropping twelve inch bombs. He is a massive contributor to the history of the dance scene and is quite simply a legend.
With a trusty box of records he mixed the inaugural volume of the seminal ‘JOURNEYS BY DJ’S’ series, gaining him entry into the Guinness Book Of Records for being the first DJ to produce a commercially available mix CD.
Over more than 25 years he has cemented himself into DJ history with his tireless commitment to touring his sound around the globe, showcasing his relentless DJ sets and building his two universally recognised labels: TORTURED and ELECTRIX. Also his London based club night ‘OPEN TO TORTURE ‘at the world famous but now defunct ‘THE END’ club featured some of the best techno DJ’s and acts in the world at the time, gaining him international recognition as a club promoter.
His own productions have always caused waves under different guises including SHI-TAKE (with Dave Wesson) or VINYL BLAIR (with Chemical Brothers engineer Steve Dub), and more recently his partnership with Keith Tenniswood (aka Radioactive Man) as RADIONASTY has received universal acclaim from the dance scene for slick productions and bombastic beats.
While currently keeping his eye firmly on the future of techno, his sets during the 1990’s at events such as Final Frontier, Tribal Gathering, Dance Valley, The Drum Club and Strutt will always remain in the hearts of the techno faithful as some of the most pioneering at the time. He has very kindly agreed to join us at RETROFLEX for a special set to relive this golden era for our all 90’s, all vinyl party, and we’re sure he’s going to tear the dancefloor up in his inimitable style that gained him global recognition over all these years.

LAWRIE IMMERSION
RETROFLEX can now reveal the third artist joining BILLY NASTY & Holland’s DJ MISJAH for our massive warehouse event on Saturday 16th July!! This man was integral to London’s techno revolution in the 90’s - responsible for the legendary IMMERSION soundsystem that passed into folklore. The tales of living and making tunes on his ROUTEMASTER bus (that inspired the label of the same name) are well known, and today he runs one of the finest mastering rooms in the land at CURVE PUSHER, connected daily to the furthering of the vinyl industry.
This icon’s history in the music business spans 30 years, starting out in punk bands at the age of 14. He played across a multitude of genres and some time later learned his trade as a front of house sound engineer while building up his 1st soundsystem. Eventually he started running underground parties through London and Europe and then set up two of the era’s most groundbreaking record labels: ROUTEMASTER followed by POUNDING GROOVES.
As a recording artist, he has released hundreds of records under different aliases, most notably: ‘TECHNO SLUT’, ‘PURGE’, ‘STAY HARD – STAY UP FOREVER’, ‘FUK IT, I’M A DRUG BUCKET’, ‘MY NAME IS ACID’ and many more. In collaboration with some of London’s finest he teamed up to form acts such as: LOCHI, KEKTEX, SARCOBLAST and PIG SNORTER, producing warehouse blasting hits including: ‘LONDON ACID CITY’, ‘NEW WAVE OF ACID TECHNO’, ‘VOTE TECHNO PARTY’, ‘INNER CITY JUNKIES’ and ‘MY 909’S GOT A PICTURE OF CHRIS LIBERATOR ON IT’ amongst other classics. Plus his POUNDING GROOVES alias became a worldwide phenomenon within the techno fraternity, releasing records with labels such as: CLR, HYDRAULIX and BILLY NASTY’S TORTURED.
Presently this artist runs one of the most highly respected cutting rooms in the UK, and his mastering techniques are world-renowned. CURVE PUSHER sets the standard and helps to keep the vinyl industry alive today, and alongside DJ MISJAH who runs 24 MASTERING in Holland, we have two of the most talented mastering engineers in Europe, both under one roof on July 16th, showcasing their skills with pure vinyl sets of classic 90’s acid & techno.

SECRET HERO aka D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER
RETROFLEX can now reveal the fourth artist joining DJ MISJAH, BILLY NASTY & LAWRIE IMMERSION for our stomping warehouse party on Saturday 16th July!! This secret guest is a hero to many, and was responsible for some of the most ground-breaking tunes in the 90’s on underground labels such as: STAY UP FOREVER, and more recently on LA’s OFFICIAL RECORDS.
Known by some as D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER, STROBE, CREEPER and HALO, tracks like ONE NIGHT IN HACKNEY, HYDRAULIX 09, APEX 1, CONTROL, SPEEDFREAK and BUILD UP THE PRESSURE have become deeply submerged in our collective subconscious over the last twenty years. He is one of the original acid techno innovators from London, responsible for a mass of underground hits made alongside the LIBERATOR DJ’s, IMMERSION & THE GEEZER, as well as his own output constantly causing a commotion on dancefloors around the world.
In the late 90’s under his D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER alias, he started the universally acclaimed HYDRAULIX label, forging a path for futuristic techno until this very day. He has been trailblazing this sound around the world for the past two decades adopting the newest technology along the way, yet we are very fortunate he has agreed to take a step back in time for us on July 16th….
In a super rare London performance under this particular alias, we will be treated to an all vinyl, all 90’s classic techno & acid set, from an act we have wanted to see in the capital for some time. Make no mistake – this will be a no nonsense proper warehouse busting set, bringing the tough as nails HYDRAULIX style to the table but with a ‘secret’ twist.

STERLING MOSS
RETROFLEX can now reveal the fifth artist joining DJ MISJAH, BILLY NASTY, LAWRIE IMMERSION & SECRET HERO aka D.A.V.E. THR DRUMMER for our mind blowing retro acid & techno party on Saturday 16th July!! This next guest pioneered a use of technology in the underground during the 90’s that saw him gain residencies in Amsterdam and London and took his sound all over the world.
Following this, his labels RACEWAY, RACETRAX and more recently REBELTEK have caused havoc on global dancefloors, and his output alongside CHRIS LIBERATOR over the last decade has become prolific in the acid techno genre with some of the biggest dancefloor smashes over the last ten years.
After touring through the 1990’s with his trusty TR-909, ROLAND JAPAN approached him to work on programming some of their newer drum machines, as a testament to his use of their vintage analogue technology.
In a super rare London showing not seen for almost a decade, he will be bringing out his mutli-layered ‘DEX, FX, 909’ show, weaving classic tracks from the 90’s alongside layers of rhythms and fx to take things to the next level. Party people get ready for another super special performance, with the leader of the acceleration generation: STERLING MOSS – DEX, FX, 909!!!
CHRIS LIBERATOR
RETROFLEX can now reveal the sixth artist joining DJ MISJAH, BILLY NASTY, LAWRIE IMMERSION, SECRET HERO aka D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER & STERLING MOSS – DEX, FX, 909 for our mind-altering classic acid & techno warehouse party on Saturday 16th July!! This next headliner is a true icon of the acid techno scene, and for over two and a half decades has shone like a beacon of light globally for this uncompromising sound.
His vision for the STAY UP FOREVER label collective has propelled the 303 sound out of the squat parties of London to a worldwide audience, and created a legacy that is unsurpassed in any other genre.
Sick acid grooves, incisive technique and an infectious smile are all ever present with this champion of the underground, and his passion for vinyl and the perpetuation of the scene is as strong as it was in his earliest days.
After eclipsing the 100th vinyl release mark, STAY UP FOREVER’s contribution to the scene will go down in the history of dance music as of great significance. As the emblem of SUF and this sound, this artist is one of the real legends who stayed true to his roots and did things his way, while spreading the word of the Great Book Of Acid Techno to disciples all around the world. AARON LIBERATOR
RETROFLEX can now reveal the seventh artist joining DJ MISJAH, BILLY NASTY, LAWRIE IMMERSION, SECRET HERO aka D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER, STERLING MOSS – DEX, FX, 909 & CHRIS LIBERATOR for the first event of it’s kind, featuring all vinyl classic acid & techno on Saturday 16th July! This next headliner is the backbone of the SUF Collective, an acid techno visionary and global icon for the sound that grew out of the warehouses of London and gained prominence worldwide.
As one of the founders of the STAY UP FOREVER label collective he has steered this 303 powered juggernaut well beyond the hundredth vinyl release for it’s flagship label, and has become a flag bearer for this uncompromising sound.
His nickname of “The Boss” should never be underestimated – with a keen ear and watchful eye he has presided over many of the scene’s greatest hits, and his relentless DJ style has enabled him to gain global recognition for over 25 years.
Today along with his massive contribution to the vinyl scene for more than two decades, he is still involved with the framework of record production on a day-to-day basis – more recently as a cutting engineer he contributes to the continuation of black wax being played in warehouses, clubs and festivals around the world. Party people make some noise for: AARON LIBERATOR!!!
GIZELLE REBEL YELLE
RETROFLEX can now reveal the eighth and final artist joining DJ MISJAH, BILLY NASTY, LAWRIE IMMERSION, SECRET HERO aka D.A.V.E. THE DRUMMER, STERLING MOSS – DEX, FX, 909, CHRIS LIBERATOR & AARON LIBERATOR for this pivotal event. Every artist has been hand picked for their contribution to the scene on this all 90’s all vinyl classic acid & techno party on Saturday 16th July, and we’ve saved the best till last with the queen of UK acid techno – another DJ who is still out there rocking the black wax, and whose silky technical skills on the decks and legendary productions are renowned around the world.
As REBEL YELLE, tracks including ‘MIZBEHAVINIT’ & ‘PURPLE HEART’ became warehouse rocking favourites in the mid 1990’s, and as a regular on the underground circuit in London, this much loved figure became the main female driving force behind the decks on the free party scene pushing the new and exciting sound of London Acid Techno.
Across multiple production collaborations, over 25 years of global dj’ing and previous work in record distribution, her contribution to the vinyl scene for more than quarter of a century is undeniable, and her cleverly constructed roof-raising DJ sets are a testament to this.
A true lover of music with a passion for all genres, we are very lucky to have this undisputed female icon of acid techno with us for this special 90’s event, as she truly represents the trailblazing attitude for women within the genre from this era.
