Jeff Millsが誘う宇宙遊泳、未知の領域へ
1965年6月3日、それはアメリカ人宇宙飛行士Edward Whiteが初めて宇宙遊泳（spacewalk）を果たした日。これまで音楽を通じて宇宙のヴィジョンを私たちに想像させ続けてくれた真のテクノパイオニア、Jeff Millsがこの51年前の宇宙科学史上の重要な日に捧げるコンセプチュアルなDJセットを披露する。久しぶりの東京でのクラブプレイであり、しかも今回の来日でのDJプレイは本公演のみ。驚異的な創造力で、テクノを前人未到の領域に常にアップデートしてきた彼の音楽世界に触れる最良の機会だ。サポートにはベルリンから、新たな旋風を巻き起こしているテクノ集団Grounded Theoryを率いるHenning Baerが登場。さらにセカンドルームにはデトロイトのTransmatからのリリースも大いに話題となっているHiroshi Watanabeが出演。贅沢な音の宇宙遊泳となりそうだ。

On this day in 1965, the first American astronaut Edward White stepped out of his spacecraft, only tethered by a cable, pioneered what we now commonly know as a “Spacewalk”. Jeff Mills - a true techno pioneer who has navigated us through the imaginary space journey over past decades pays tribute to this momentous day, 51 years ago in space science in the form of a conceptual DJ set. Known for his deep interest in Space travel and science fiction, this will be another opportunity to experience his ever-expanding imagination and what makes his music so important to the Techno genre. Another guest of the night, Berlin’s Henning Baer, head of the city’s new exciting techno operation Grounded Theory collective will help us navigate on this journey. Japan’s Hiroshi Watanabe, who recently reminded us of his mastery with his Transmat release will also steer and control the second room.
A spacewalk in sound, this night is sure to be an experience to remember.
Henning Baer (Grounded Theory | MANHIGH | Sonic Groove)
ベルリンを拠点とするGrounded Theoryのファウンダー、レジデントDJにして、エージェンシー、イベントのキュレーションも務めるHenning Baer。2009年、初期の頃からGrounded Theoryは新しいアイデアを取り入れ、現地では勿論の事、世界レベルでベルリンテクノを世に広めてきた。
長年エレクトロニックミュージックの前線に立つ彼のビジョンと的確な指導にて幅広く活動し続けてる。Henning BaerのDJセットのように、Grounded Theoryはテクノをルーツとし、様々な時代とエリアの音やアーティスト達、ベルリンのダンスフロアではなかなか耳に入らないUKミュージック、エクスペリメンタル、アンダーグラウンドなサウンドを結合している。
同じレジデントのMilton BradleyとのプロジェクトでTaanstaafl PlanetsからEPをリリース。Grounded Theoryと似たテイストのSonic GrooveやK209からもリリースを果たし、その後、自身の基礎となるレーベル「MANHIGH」を立ち上げた。
