"The Father Abraham Block Party" started as an all day party at Cadillac Square many moons ago during the Movement (DEMF) Festival in Detroit. Father Abraham was the initial genius behind the outdoor portion setup as an audio VIP welcome carpet for all on-lookers and invitees - greeting everyone with House Music in its groovy, deepest form. The pavement bounced with these sounds everywhere within a 1/4 mile radius.
Once you entered the bar and ventured downstairs, the next step is to decide if you wanted to go to "next step". At that point, you would become part of an intense level of House
combined with Techno in a darker, underground environment, all provided by the leaders of Handmade and Friction Recordings - Billy Jaz, Leathal (Paul & Christopher Leath) and Braulio Motus. These selectors along with close, related co-pilots brought in an edgy element from each genre and kept a consistent momentum to the drive of this party.
Some past arists included the following:
Monty Luke
Mike Clark
Golf Clap
Franklin De Costa
Bogl
and many more...
It's now 2016 - the current team is ready to display their expansive talents with the newly included, very talented crew. The location is new, but the vibe remains the same.
