DJ Alex Pewin (Voices)
Alex has been Dj'ing professionally for the last fourteen years.Beginning in the late80's he worked his way through the free party/warehouse scene and began warming up for other well known DJ's such as Roy the Roach and Breeze R.I.P.In 1993 Alex dj'ed and co-promoted warehouse parties such as All Hail Discordia, Hail Eris, which fused together different rooms of music in one space, bringing established artists such as J Saul Kane (Depth Charge) Kris Needs, Sherman at the Controls (Cloak and Dagger) and Electrocuted to play. He was resident and integral part of London's Shaolin movie and music nights bringing back a classic double bill show of kung fu movies and Hip Hop, breaks.
Alex has played in New York at such places as Halcyon in Brooklyn, APT at No Boundaries with Metro Area has been a guest on New Jersey's Wfmu radio on NY favourite DJ Small Change's "Nickel & Dime show". Alex has also been invited to guest on WNYU 89.1 on Tim Sweeny's Beats In Space radio show. Alex also guested on the West Coast in LA's Freethinkin event and San Diego at DJ Hugh Herrera's Candelas club.
Alex has played at London's 93 Feet East club and at Plastic People at their long running Blueprint sessions on Friday's and Balance on Saturday's and the Surround Sound Sundays night. He has guested at Depth Charge's early experimental breakbeat night Won Ton beats at the Gardening club. He has also played alongside DJ's Charlie Dark, Tony Nwahchuku (Attica Blues) and was invited to join the Attica Blues All-stars as one of their classics record selectors. Alex has also played at Transit nights at Plastic People with Miguel Migs (Naked Music) and Detroit's Moodyman. And has become a resident DJ at the infamous musical marathon Hoxton Pimps festival parties .
In September 2002 Alex joined musical forces with two other DJ's Ramar from London's long running underground night "Materielle" and French native Cedric Lassonde who ran a regular Sunday session at The Clinic in London's west end ,to form the "Voices" DJ collective . Voices started immediately hosting a monthly event in The Lifthouse venue - Farringdon before moving to it's next venue and London's finest sound system Plastic People. They hosted the last thurs of each month inviting international guest DJ's Daniel Wang (Balihu Rec's) and Gerry Rooney (Black Cock Rec.). Sean P (BBE Recs.), Eric Duncan (Rub 'n Tug) & Victor Rosado (Paradise Garage, The Loft NYC). The collective also adds percussion to their parties courtesy of Bongomaniac. Currently the Voices Collective are holding special monthly events in Oze's Gallery space in Waterloo that incorporates their high fidelity soundsystem. Finally Alex regularly hosts the main room all night at the Hoxton Pimps jams adding to the long list of parties Alex has been asked to join.
Musical style:
Alex's tastes encompass a wide range of music. He can play contemporary soulful dance, deep, or a mixed selection of uptempo grooves inc Disco, boogie, jazz, and always some forgotten classics. In his own words, "The emphasis is on the quality of the record be it instrumental, vocal, experimental. Everything has its place and time through the duration of a night, and if you have a good sound system and an open minded crowd and more than a couple of hours then it can all make sense!".
The Off Key Hat (Dissident)
The Off Key Hat which is a combination of Leon Mayes and partner Darren Morris . Darren has sessioned (keyboards/bass) since 1997 for such artists/producers as Tim Goldsworthy, David Holmes, Jagz Kooner, Ashley Beedle and X-Press2 (to name but a few). He co-wrote on Holmes' 'Bow Down ...' album, X-Press2 'Make Shift Feel Good' and various Ashley Beedle 'London Heavy Disco Revue' releases. He met Leon 3 years ago and they recently formed The Off Key Hat. for Their last release 'This is not' did'nt do too bad. Leon's been busy djing at nights with Cocadisco, Lasermagnetic, Disco Box, Disco Not Disco and Andy Blake (Dissident label boss but you all knew that). Look out for The Off Key Hat's next remix release of there current track 'Emergency Calling', with DFA's Tim Goldsworthy and Ashley Beedle doing the honours.

Partner’s in crime Neil Thornton and Johnny Hiller have been pushing the broad spectrum disco music in the capital for quite a while now and are seen as the driving forces behind the scene. They embrace on anything from cosmic, deep disco, funky rock, balearic to a more electronic, modern and deep house inspired sounds. The boys can be seen behind the decks at some of London's cooler venues including Fabric(where they host the Third Room at least 3 times a year),Platinum, Sosho, Big Chill House alongside the underground warehouse parties they love putting on.Neil & Johnny have also very busy bringing their disco to parties including Faith/ Secretsundaze, Late Night Audio, Milky Disco, playing @ the Vogue Magazines 90th Birthday after party When not rocking a disco in the capital they can be found playing overseas including Nouveau Casino (Paris) and Tape Club and Cookies (Berlin), Salty's crazy disco parties in Croatia alongside annual stints in Japan. Most contemporaries of the scene have played at their parties and their spirit as a duo has been compared to what the Glimmers or Rub and Tug have achieve with the energy and passion they create. Over the last few years the boys have bought some great guest to join the fun including Daniel Wang, Losoul, Prins Thomas, Lindstrom, Chromatics, Andrew Weatherall, Trevor Jackson, Tim Sweeney, Ame, Melon, Steffi Jay Shepheard, Mark Seven, Dennis Kane (N.Y), Thomas (Rub n Tug), Studio, A Mountain of One, Beppe Loda, Quiet Village, Pete Herbert, Tim Paris, Padded Cell, Friendly Fires, Idjut Boys, Mongolian Jetset, Faze Action and many more. Its been a non stop rollercoaster ride for the boys and 2008 looks just as fun.
