The Sweatbox-The House Movement

  • House music is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago in the early 1980s. It was initially popularized in Chicago, circa 1984. Early house music was generally dance-based music characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats, rhythms mainly provided by drum machines,off-beat hi-hat cymbals, and synthesized basslines. House music in the 2010s, while keeping several of these core elements, notably the prominent kick drum on every beat, varies widely in style and influence, ranging from the soulful and atmospheric deep house to the more minimalistic microhouse. House music has also fused with several other genres creating fusion subgenres, such as euro house, tech house, electro house and jump house. Ladies and Gents, this edition of The Sweatbox will see a modern take on House Music and its evolution today. It will be a tasteful bend of House entwinning gracefully in a groovy embrace to its younger brother tech house and all the way to the not so distant relative- Techno . The spice of this Saturday's Sweatbox will be the actual way the music will delivered to us. The House Masters edition will be a wave of dynamism alongside musical gems you haven't heard yet as there is only a few musicians who focus on remaining in its glory of inception without altering the momentum, yet delivering the fresh sounds of the present take on House and keeping it current without adding the nostalgia. This, dear party people, will be a special deliverance by a special guest and it's not one of those " ah, those were the days" house music parties, but a delightful and current display of what House music is today, just like revisiting the past however staying in the now. Our special guest is more to music than an ordinary DJ and Producer, he does charity, he plays huge festivals across the globe, he educates people and supports humanitarian causes which he believes in, having been born in a family who shares the same values. This is why the flavor of Saturday will be highly aromatic, as it's not just a party but a feeling of enjoyement and bliss. Alongside our special guest, Lee Kemp will be officially popping his Sweatbox cherry. A very complex character, Kemp is what we would call an underground circuit DJ. From Ibiza to Ministry of Sound, to Pawn & Co in Melbourne alongide his better half of SHAKEM, he's done it all. With a career spanning for over 20 years, now Kemp choses his music "battles" selectively. Any DJ knows that having reached a stage in one's life playing soley for the parties one choses to play, translates into a lot of personality and fun behind the decks and certainly gives him the ability to dig through musical gems that are not currently played too often across world's dancefloors. He has prepared and curated a funky vocal playlist and also a driving techy selection for our musical pleasure . The last few editions of The Sweatbox have seen Obadius and Otherkind making a frequent appearance and as you all guessed is because we cannot have enough! Not only did we discover that they are putting up a marvelous show pairing up behind the decks but also that Obadius's progressiveness and Otherkind's relentlesness in their showcases have caused us to pull up our sunglasses and carry on dancing till the early hours. These, dear party people are moments of unforgettable bliss and this Saturday we invite you to be a part of it and share the love! 11 PM till way too early.
