  • Kieran Hebdan hasn’t been doing this for a short time. No, he’s not one of those who were left after what some called post-dubstep, orphans of a place to be pigeonholed in by the press. On the contrary, Kieran – Four Tet – was the inspiration for many of those to keep on strong on their paths. Em 1999 he released, on Output, his first record – “Dialogue” -, where the rudimentary technology of the time, with the computer as the centre of operations, gave nonetheless way to a unique cut-and-paste technique, blending in sounds and joining together electronic sounds and real intruments, with the turntable being as valid as a sound source as a tabla or a sitar. Four Tet then becomes synonymous with the future of electronic music. With the passage of time, all of this starts to turn into something more dancefloor oriente. In 2010, he decides to simplify his complicated life of album release schedules, interviews and tours and turn purely to the clubs – “the club is my world now”, he declares. He starts releasing singles to a dedicated fan base, starts honing his skills as a DJ (and what a DJ!) and collaborates with people such as Jamie XX, Roots Manuva, Burial or Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. Proving himself behind the decks in residencies alongside Timo Maas or James Holden, suddenly Kieran Hebdan isn’t the poster boy for the chilled out beats the press called “folktronica”, but a creative genius ready to makes us get up and dance, joining the urban broken beats to House and Techno and a mystic and ethereal aura that makes him truly unique. An awaited return. An essential return! - Inês Duarte
