A very anticipated debut for us, Shanti Celeste is one of those artists that fills our hearts with optimism about the future of dance music. Born in Chile and now based in the vibrant city of Bristol, she's a multifaceted agitator: a DJ but also a producer, vocalist, promoter, label boss and a crucial part of the Idle Hands crew - one of the most vital record shops and labels from the city she calls home.
Her first release as Shanti Celeste came out on her own label BRSTL - an imprint she co-runs with Chris Farrell. Since then, her music has seen the light of day through labels such as Julio Bashmore's Broadwalk, Future Times, Apron or Secretsundaze. As a producer, she elegantly threads a path that combines deep aesthetics with the warmth of melodic compositions. She admittedly loves to write melodies and convey emotions in her tracks simply because that's what she looks for when she's in the other side, dancing in a club.
That same philosophy shines through via her selections when she's in the DJ booth: the sound that Shanti Celeste goes for has that ancestral groove that soothes the soul while at the same time being some of the newest and freshest records of today - much like someone that listens to everything first-hand when boxes arrive to the store full of exciting new material. All this knowledge fuses into a luminous journey that remains filled with mystery - hypnotic but never repetitive. Much like us, Shanti Celeste sees music as a lever to reach a state of oneness, euphoria and happiness, and that's what makes her visit to our dancefloor so very essential.
