Brazilian festival Novas Frequências has announced it's first batch of artists including Mexican Jihad and Fausto Bahía from NAAFI collective, locals Rakta and Thiago Miazzo, and a collaboration between Vincent Moon, Rabih Beaini and Priscilla Telmon featuring live cinema, electronics and sacred objects called Cosmogonia. Also in the programme is a series of performances by artists from innovative music and audiovisual art platform SHAPE. The network consists of 16 festivals and art centres from Europe who aim to support, promote and exchange innovative and aspiring musicians and interdisciplinary artists with an interest in sound. The platform was formed by members of ICAS (International Cities of Advanced Sound) – a global network of independent non-profit organizations dedicated to advancing sound cultures, music and related arts. Novas Frequências 6th edition takes place between 3-8 December in Rio multiple venues and will host concerts, performances, club nights, talks, panel discussions, workshops and installations.
Among the artists that performed in Novas Frequências in the past are: Stephen O’Malley, Ben Frost, Tim Hecker, The Bug, King Midas Sound, Dawn of Midi, Hype Williams, Actress, Andy Stott, Vladislav Delay, Pole, Mika Vainio, Phill Niblock & Thomas Ankersmit, Tyondai Braxton, Mark Fell, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Aki Onda, Demdike Stare, Heatsick, Lee Gamble, David Toop, Philip Jeck, Julianna Barwick, Sun Araw, Murcof, Rashad Becker, Lubomyr Melnyk, Laraaji, John Butcher & Mark Sanders, Ashley Paul, Cut Hands, DJ Marfox and Bill Orcutt.
