  • Is it possible to know New York in a single night? Especially without physically going there? Well, we think so. That it is at least possible to spend a night immersed in the unique vision of New York brought by two extraordinary artists who have the city running in their veins. With canvases filled with garish strokes and stories carved out of the very stones of the city, Levon Vincent and Joey Anderson bring us a New York which, more than a city, is a universe. Maybe because they´re both so connected by the city, it´s possible to find many common traits, empathies and telepathies in their discographies. From out of Joey and Levon´s music, we can imagine rushed steps on the wet asphalt of the city, or sneakers sliding through improvised dancefloors in some of it´s lofts. Plumes of vapour rising from the tubes beneath the streets or the smoke clouds fired from the machines in a rave inside an abandoned warehouse. The agony of those struggling to survive in it´s alleyways and the ecstasy of those dancing in it´s clubs like it´s the last night of their lives. With them, we can hear the sirens echoing in the canyons made of skyscrapers transformed into melodies that speak straight to our synapses. You don´t need to go far to find a soundtrack for these words. On Levon´s ‘Birds/Tubular Bells’ (Novel Sound), and Joey´s ‘The Vase’ (Avenue 66), respectively their two latest EPs, it´s all there. Levon shows us concrete, neon, and loves lost in a change of glances on a subway carriage. Joey dreams of the cosmos beyond the city skies while in his mind he´s grafitting every grey building in town with the colors of the rainbow. You can hear the gravel and dirt in the foundations of their music, but emotion and beauty are always around the corner. The blood, sweat and tears of New York wash up in Lisbon, then, for one night about which we have dreamt of for a long time and which we are honored to present, with two of the most paradigmatic names in american house and techno today, Joey Anderson e Levon Vincent. Be it in New York or in Lisbon, in the rush of modern city life, and as Oscar Wilde said, we are all born in the gutter, but some of us never stop looking at the stars. Tonight, we will all watch the stars together. - Nuno Mendonça
