Blackest Ever Black Meets The Death of Rave

  • February 4th, 2017 will mark 5 years to the snowy night when a puckish Blackest Ever Black sent their top boys to Islington Mill - Regis, Cut Hands, Raime and Blackest DJ - for a session which has become indelible from Manchester rave folklore. Blackest Ever Black has grown hugely in stature since then, arguably defining a whole wave of uncompromising, wildly diverse and life-affirming contemporary music which stands firmly against the grain, winning them obsessive disciples across the world in the process. They return to our city in 2017, this time at the noumenal no-man's-land of The White Hotel, mutated, multiplied and fronted by the immense prospect of RAIME's new live band; feat. Joe and Tom on bass and guitar and Valentina Magaletti on sticks, and precariously allowing X-amount of improvisation into their soundboy-burying, rictus No Wave chops. RAIME have only performed this show a handful of times, mostly at major festivals, so consider this a bit of a coup. BEB are also represented by Yorkshire psych dosers, ASHTRAY NAVIGATIONS, who just released 'To Make A Fool Ask, And You Are The First', along with the return of don BLACKEST DJ, plus a special set from Bristol's minimal D+B specialist PESSIMIST - who was behind that 'Balaklava' arrow on BEB's A14 sublabel. KILLING SOUND member SAM KIDEL will represent the crossover with Boomkat and Faktion-affiliated label, The Death of Rave, who issued Kidel's uncannily incisive 'Disruptive Muzak' LP in early 2016, and plan to release the debut sacrifice from CROWW, making his unmissable live debut at this event. Trust that JON K and CT DJ will feel out the spaces between, underneath. A hybrid rave of obscure, syzygy-like scale; sure to eclipse the first, we rate you'll agree. Come. https://www.discogs.com/label/393604-The-Death-Of-Rave
