Berlin Atonal presents New Assembly Tokyo

2017年2月後半、Berlin Atonal（ベルリン・アトナル）は初のサテライト・イベントNew Assembly Tokyo（ニュー・アセンブリー・トーキョー）を開催するため日本へ渡ります。3日間に渡る音の冒険には、今回のために企画された全く新しいプロジェクト、国外からのアーティストと日本のアーティスト、そして過去のBerlin Atonalのハイライトが含まれています。
中でも最も注目すべきはそれぞれの分野の卓越したアーティストたちによる新たなコラボレーションです。まずは日本が誇る唯一無二のノイズ・レジェンドMerzbow（メルツバウ）とAtonalのオーディエンスにはお馴染みとなったエモーショナルなシンセ・サウンドの達人、元Nine Inch NailsのキーボーディストAlessandro Cortini（アレッサンドロ・コルティーニ）の二人。New Assemblyがワールド・プレミアとしてお届けする彼らの新たな共同ライブ・プロジェクトは、2017年の実験音楽シーンにおいて最も興味深く予想不可能な出来事となるでしょう。もう一つのフレッシュな新コラボレーションは、今年〈PAN〉から緻密かつ色彩豊かな傑作アルバムを発表したばかりのRashad Becker（ラシャド・ベッカー）と先見の明を持つ日本人プロデューサー、Ena（エナ）によるものです。
先日〈Token〉からセカンド・アルバムのリリースを発表したSigha（サイア）は独自のディープで豊かなテクスチャーを特徴としたテクノによって、今日の最も先端を行くエレクトロニック・ミュージックの最大勢力の一部として確実な地位を築いています。彼はNew Assemblyで二つのライブを披露することになりました。一つはダンスフロアに向けたリズミックなモードで、そして二つ目はA Vision Of Love（ア・ビジョン・オブ・ラブ）名義でのよりノイジーでエクスペリメンタルなセットです。大阪を拠点とするデュオSynth Sistersは日本でも最もディープでサイケデリックでコズミックなサウンドスケープを描き出すシンセ奏者です。彼女たちの待望のライブは21世紀版のTangerine Dreamと呼ぶべきサウンドを東京で聴かせてくれることでしょう。
インダストリアル音楽に最もエキサイティングな音を提供しているアーティストの一人、デンマークのノイズ作家Puce Mary（ピュース・マリー）も登場します。最近の〈Posh Isolation〉からのリリースにより突出した才能を発揮した彼女のライブは、一度見たら忘れられない、今日におけるダークで、時に美しいノイズの先導者としての個性を放つものです。2015年のBerlin Atonalにおいて強い印象を残した
Ryo Murakami（リョウ・ムラカミ）も、彼のホームグラウンドである日本でライブを披露してくれることになりました。
DJ Stingray 313（DJスティングレイ313）は現在最も好調かつ需要の高いDJの一人。20年以上に渡りデトロイトの音楽シーンの原動力として活動してきたStingrayの、追随を許さない高速かつハイテクなセットはようやく得るべき評価を得始めており、一度は味わってみるべき音楽体験です。ここに異種混合のムーディーかつ時に熱狂的なサウンドを紡ぎ出すLaurel Halo（ローレル・ヘイロー）と、日本が誇るフットワーク・ミュータントDJ Fulltono（DJフルトノ）、ruralフェスティバルやVetaのレジデントを務めるOkuda（オクダ）、そして大阪から行松陽介（ユキマツ・ヨウスケ）が加わり、多岐にわたるテイストを調和させていきます。また、最近Lee Gamble主宰の〈UIQ〉レーベルからリリースを果たしたRenick Bell（レニック・ベル）が彼の専門分野である、その場で音楽を生成するプログラムを編集していくライブ・コーディングを用いたパフォーマンスを披露してくれます。
これに加え、現地東京のアヴァンギャルド音楽の最重要集団であり、今年活動20周年を祝う〈BLACK SMOKER RECORDS〉が今回のために特別なラインナップを用意してくれました。レーベルのフロントマンであるKILLER-BONGを筆頭に、伊東篤宏、カイライバンチ、VELTZ、BUNがライブで出演し、Compuma、威力、DJ YaziによるDJセットとMelt Bananaのビジュアルなどを手がけるIrohaがVJとして出演します。
このイベント・シリーズは、DOMMUNEからの生放送番組（2/16）を皮切りに、SuperDeluxeにおける、Berlin Atonal 2016で話題をさらったAlessandro Cortiniによる壮大な「AVANTI」の再演を中心に据えたオープニング・コンサート（2/17）、渋谷Contactでの強力な布陣でお届けするクラブ・ナイト（2/18）、そして最終日のメイン・コンサート（2/19）という構成になっています。

Berlin Atonal travels to Japan at the end of February 2017 to present the first edition of New Assembly in Tokyo. This three day excursion brings together newly commissioned projects, international and Japanese artists as well as highlights from past editions of Berlin Atonal.
At the top of the list is a new collaboration uniting two artists preeminent in their respective fields; the incomparable Japanese noise legend Merzbow and Alessandro Cortini, whose mastery of the emotional potential of synthesised sound is well known to all followers of Atonal. New Assembly Tokyo hosts the world premiere of this new live project which is set to be one of the most interesting and unpredictable events in experimental music for 2017. Another freshly minted collaboration sees Rashad Becker - in fine form following his intricate and technicolored masterpiece released this year on PAN - team up with visionary Japanese producer Ena.
Having just announced his sophomore LP on Token, Sigha has firmly entrenched himself and his breed of deep, highly textured techno as a major force in today’s advanced electronic music landscape. He will use New Assembly Tokyo to present two live shows - one in a more dancefloor-oriented rhythmic mode, and a second, as A Vision of Love, exploring noisier, more experimental paths.
One of the most exciting voices in industrial music is the Danish noisenik Puce Mary. Her standout recent releases on Posh Isolation as well as her impossible-to-forget live shows have firmly established her as today’s preeminent exponent of dark - and at times darkly beautiful - noise. Ryo Murakami - who delivered one of the standout performances at the 2015 edition of Berlin Atonal - also prepares a live show on home turf.
DJ Stingray 313 is one of the most in form and in demand DJs at the moment. A driving force in Detroit for more than two decades, Stingray’s own inimitable hi-speed, hi-tech sets are beginning to get the recognition they deserve as in-themselves unforgettable sonic experiences to behold. Complementing him will be Laurel Halo with a trademark heterogeneous, moody and frenetic set, as Japan’s footwork mutant DJ Fulltono and Rural festival resident Okuda and Osaka’s Yousuke Yukimatsu add their own eclectic taste into the mix. Renick Bell - the recent addition to Lee Gamble’s UIQ label - performs one of his pioneering live coding sessions.
Added to the mix is a massive line-up curated by local institution Black Smoker Records (celebrating their 20th year of operations) featuring head honcho Killer-Bong, Atsuhiro Ito + Kairai Bunch using experimental instrumentation built from fluorescent light tubes, as well as live sets from Veltz and Bun and DJs including Compuma, DJ威力, Iroha and DJ Yazi.
The outing begins with a live streaming show from Dommune (16.02) before an opening concert at SuperDeluxe (17.02) - where Alessandro Cortini will reprise his mind-blowing AVANTI performance from Berlin Atonal 2016 - followed by a hard-hitting club night (18.02), and finally a night of concerts (19.02), both to take place at Contact in Shibuya.
