So........After a few years off to concentrate on family, we decided we couldn't stay away any longer! The call of the heavy bass lines and thundering beats drew louder and louder with everyday we were away, until they could be ignored no longer.
We thought long and hard about how to re-launch the night, should we book an international guest? should we book 2? and then we re-read the write up for our very first event, and how we should re-launch the night became glaringly obvious.
This was what we wrote for our first event back in 2010!
"System aims to move back to a time when nights were all about the music. Where dj's are booked because they make people dance, not because they sell tickets. A night where you go to listen to good music, not to show off your latest peacock hair cut or your skin tight pink t-shirt. A night where having a party is the no 1 priority.
Get Sweaty, get dirty, get naked, we don't care just come and have one fucking good time!"
We spent our first year showcasing the amazing talent Cardiff and South Wales had to offer. We felt that we could build a brand on the quality music being played, not just filling clubs with expensive headliners. We then progrssed to suplimeting those quality line ups with much larger events bringing some of the biggest names in Techno to Cardiff including Sasha Carassi, Marco Bailey, Marc Broom, Reset Robot, Harvery Mckay, Dave the Drummer and many more.
But our ethos naver changed, we were as comfortable putting on line ups of amazing local d's as we were putting on the headliners, our parties were all about the music.
And so, for our launch, we're going back to how it all started, bringing back some of the first Dj's to every play for us, as well as some of our regular guests. These dj's know how we work, what we try to achieve, and most importantly, know what quality music is. They helped shape the destiny of System 909, so it's only right they return to help us re-launch our night back onto the Cardiff techno scene.
We hope you can come down to Undertone on the 25th of Feb and usher in a new era for System 909. One we are really excited about.
