ABOUT:
Batata Eletrônica is a non-profit cultural project that began in February 2016, in the form of an occupation in Largo da Batata, settled in the square since then where it began to hold monthly parties as a form of culture and leisure option for The frequenters; It all started with the idea of connecting some speakers in a system more like "Frankenstein" and the possibility of making a kind of clandestine connection to get electricity. The first party held the name "I love potato, I love house music, I love techno", I could not imagine where the project could get, in the second edition, in March, that the party got its name.
Since then, the project has developed given the initiative and own resources of the idealizer, without any help or sponsorship from the government or companies, the logo of the project carries the symbol of the heart that represents the affective connection with space and music.
Historically Largo da Batata is a place of many popular resistances, also known traditionally as a point of the forró, in the middle of 2007, projects of residents, merchants and artists of the region aimed to develop this place until then much forgotten, it was a very Bad, dangerous, where nothing happened, an abandoned space for the proliferation of poverty and misery. Thus, the union of all these collaborators began to create actions to foster the social use of public space, which could become more beautiful and with more options of culture and leisure, thanks to this union is that the project has survived until today, because Who participates in the square, even though he does not like electronic music, sees the initiative as something beautiful and important, as well as always strengthening the bonds of affection for what happens in Largo da Batata.
In this course of 15 editions carried out in the 1-year life of the project, this became an independent street party collective, inspired by the great festivals on the streets of European cities such as Berlin and Amsterdam, the project proposal was to show what was coming Occurring best in the electronic scene in São Paulo, giving space for new djs to perform and showing talents that until then were half hidden. The Electronic Potato always tried to work together what was happening in the other parties in São Paulo, participated in SP NA RUA (Month of Independent Culture) and names of important DJs such as Paulo Tessuto (Carlos Capslock), Cashu (Mamba Negra) By the work that had been done promoting the scene.
