NY LOVES MANCHESTER - A fundraiser for the victims of the tragic bombing at Manchester Arena.
New York has always had a strong musical connection with Manchester, England. From New Order's first U.S Tour in the early 80s, they fell in love with the New York city's club culture. It lead them to working with producers & remixers like Arthur Baker, John Robie, and Shep Pettibone, and inspired them to open the legendary Hacienda Club, which was modeled after clubs like Danceteria & The Paradise Garage. A ground breaking 1983 show at the Paradise Garage in New York featuring New Order and Quando Quango is still talked about today.
The connection continued with Mark Kamins, a DJ at Danceteria, who did New York remixes for Factory Records' band Quando Quando, as well as Hacienda resident DJs Mike Pickering and Graham Park coming to New York to DJ with Mark. New York DJ Justin Strauss did the remixes for the now classic track "Pacific State" from Manchester's 808 State.
The connection between Manchester and New York had deep roots and is as strong as ever. We are here to show our love and support through the music.
